Are you my Mother? Some Sweetness.

Oh, there is so much to talk about. I try so hard to make these posts short and sweet enough to be fun to write and entertaining to read.

I wish I could tell you everything that makes my eyebrows raise, everything that makes me laugh. Everything that catches my eye.  But I would not put you through it. So, how about just this one:

Aren’t they sweet. Inseparable until I put Marcel into his crate to sleep.

I thought I would reassure you that all Boo’s interactions with the lamb are supervised. He is a dog after all. And Marcel is a lamb. Although it is fun for us to point to the, sometimes almost human, attributes of our dogs. They are still dogs.  One of the reasons Boo is seldom photographed with Marmalade anymore is that the cat does not tolerate rough play and steers clear of the dog. As the cat got older the dog got bolder.  Often they will sleep next to each other but dogs bring a lot of weight to their play. Though Marmalade is now clever enough to keep himself up out of plays way. We humans  must be responsible.  Dogs are not humans. And thank you Rumpy for writing such a good article on this the other day.

Here is a rather muddled picture of the new super dooper milking machine. It will look happier when it is in the barn (in 21 days) and not loitering in the Cloakroom.  It is a very sturdy model. I am well pleased.  The Cloakroom where a lot of stuff sits that should not be sitting. Ah well. 123naked-038 Good morning. Here are  Sheila and Ton coming home from a walk. Some of the snow has thawed so they were able to get out for a bit longer  yesterday. Both of them hate to be cooped up. Sheila is allowed to take Ton for walks unsupervised. As long as they promise not to go outside the gates. They have to wait for a human to go down to the creek with them. 123naked-058

But both of them slipping and walking awkwardly on the icy snow. So no humans wanted to go out the gate and down to the Creek that is really a Ditch, yesterday.

I hope you all have a lovely day.

Your friend on the farm,

celi

  1. I’m sometimes guilty of anthropomorphism, but I still try and keep in mind that Miss Sophie is a dog and not my little cuddly baby. It’s not easy when they are so darn cute.

Little Marcel seems to be getting stronger under Boo’s watchful eye. And look at Sheila, strutting around like she owns the place. Or maybe she does own the place 🙂

I’m glad to hear that the freeze is easing, although that just heralds the thaw and my least favourite time – mud season!

  2. Oh C. those photos of Boo Nanny and Marcel are just beyond sweetness…I finally had to change my desktop from Boo and tiny Marmelade to the last one of Boo and smiling lil Marcel.
And Yay on that milking machine…it’s a beauty!

  3. An excellent and timely reminder that animals, might be friends, but at the end of the day they are animals and live by their own code. Glad the thaw has begun for you. Spring cannot be very far away.

  4. Marcel has lost his look of hanging on for grim death. He seems steady on those unfeasibly long legs. I think Boo will need to find something new to Nanny soon. It’s easy to forget that Boo is still a baby himself, and always ready to play. Sometimes his chosen playmates are not size-appropriate… Very cute photos, but I find the one of Sheila and Ton out on their constitutional the most endearing. Animals doing what they need to do, getting some fresh air and exercise.

  5. What a touching sequence of Boo and Marcel. And your first photo of this post is a stunner! I see you being very careful that Marcel doesn’t grow up thinking he is a dog, and protecting him against unintentional harm from Boo.
The milking machine looks like a kiwi lawn mower with adaptations. It makes me laugh.

  6. Hi Ceci.
Your picture remind me of a very sad story. When my friend rescued a border collies who appeared to love three little lambs she was feeding she thought they were safe together. They cuddled up and slept together with the dog who seemed to be taking on the role of their protector. She moved them into a stall together and a couple of hours later when she arrived to feed them all three lambs were dead. The Rumpydog blog is one full of wisdom. Thanks for linking to it.
    Love,
    TiTi

  7. Coming to the farmy brings on a big smile every morning at the moment: what a huge amount of love emanates from the screen – that last picture of Boo looking at Marcel surely is a ‘keeper’ as many would call it and I hope you do not mind it now sits as a background on my computer!! And a big ‘thank you’ for your brilliant comment on Celi’s post yesterday [methinks my laugh could be heard outside the door!!!] – actually ‘that one’ is one of the most delicate and elegant Chinese dishes when well prepared . . .
