Out in the sun

We really don’t need too many words when the sun comes out.

Every animal seeks the sun. Which is good, as a solid dose of the sun is excellent for our health and well being. Not too much if you live back home in New Zealand but out here on the prairies of Illinois the sun is mild.

I felt unstoppable yesterday. The sun was a tonic.

dawn-028dawn-034Yes I am still wearing my clown suit and gumboots. It is warm but not that warm and I just don’t trust the weather. And Tima likes them. I made her a bed in the barn last night and she said Thank you very  much and good night, crept into her rubbish bin and went to sleep without another word.  She has other pigs grunting contendedly through her walls and I think she felt happy out there. Plus it is warmer. Though I hated leaving her outside. Had to be done. But she could have pretended to be reluctant. Do you want to see a shot of her little sleeping feet?dawn-057

There that is how bonkers I am!

My 100 lavenders came and were allowed a little sun themselves.  John s going to make lavender oils this year  so I will pot them up and grow them on for a while before I plant them. It will be interesting to see if any of my other lavenders survived this winter.

And now off to work for me. The dawn is definitely coming earlier! Well it would, wouldn’t it.

Have a lovely day.

  1. I think the word you are looking for is besotted…for Tima, that is! And who wouldn’t be with those little toes of hers? That shot of her running in the grass that is taller than her is great. Lovely lavender. I imagine when you run your hand across it, it smells divine.

Have a happy day in the sun.

  2. So cute Tima! I think pigs feet look like ladies high heels……I know…weird….but that’s just how I see them 🙂 LOL!

  3. I’m glad you have sun. It’s raining here in Germany. My mom is in a geriatric rehab unit that is beautiful, we should be so lucky in the states. My mom is happy to have me and I ‘m happy to be here with her. Being 91 is not easy.

      • Thanks, I’m trying. When your young and fall in love and move to another continent you don’t realize the consequences. I love my life and new country but I would like to live closer to my mom. She is cute and such a strong farm woman and does need me.

  4. i am glad you are getting some sun! it seems my lavender made it through winter but my ivy, boxwoods and holly took a hit. i sent you something and it might be there today.

    • I will be collecting mail today maybe it will be there.. I don’t have very much growth anywhere yet to tell what has survived but we get up to 70today, that should get some of the plants moving.. c

  5. Have a lovely day she says…you have pinched our sun….yesterday was warm and beautiful , today it is cold wet, and raining but I love the pics of baby Tima, especially those of her asleep ….thinking of trying to get my 6 dogs to sleep in the barn, but then it seems so harsh after the comforts of a warm cosy kitchen fire
