Bug in a Rug

This image is of Tima sleeping under her blanket, on her cushion, in the kitchen, in the morning. I wanted to write Pig in a Poke but I don’t know what a Poke is and fearing it was rude decided not to use it as a heading. She was cold, and crawled under the blanket, so I tucked her up and she slept happily in there for almost two hours while I made butter, started a kefir bread, started another yoghurt for the cheese,  cooked custard to cool for the icecream and cleaned up the kitchen (why can a kitchen not stay clean?)

Mondays are like that. pig-in-a-poke-006

My neighbour dropped in while I was straining the cheese later in the afternoon, shortly after she left she txted and said “your littlist orange cat was on our trailer  – it  jumped off and ran. ” “Where are you,” I said.  She was a mile down the road when they lost her. So Boo and I jumped in the car and went off in search of Marmalade. Boo dashed to and fro, sniffing and rushing here and there. Find your baby I called Find your baby. You will remember that he raised Marmalade so Find your Baby meant find Marmalade.  His feet were high and his body raised, head up,  as he searched the sections along the way.  Heading closer to home each time. Eventually I put him in the car and we drove home for the milking and who should be sitting on the verandah?

Then it was time to make dinner. The Master would be home soon. Don’t these days go fast!

Good morning. It rained a little yesterday. Very nice. But the poor old chook died yesterday evening, she gave it a good crack but never recovered,  hopefully the last of the Bastard Mink’s victims.

I hope you find loveliness today.

Love your friend on the farmy

  1. Sorry about the chook C. She sure did give it a try and you made her last days very comfortable. Love the shot of Marmalade! Do let us known when there are orange boy kittens around and available – maybe in the fall. 🙂 The kids sure are ready!

  2. Sorry to hear about the chook. I know that mink is one varmint you don’t ever want to see again. How nice of Marmalade to send you and Boo off for a joyful jaunt in the middle of the day. I’m glad he showed up, little stinker. Tima gives new meaning to pig-in-a-blanket!

  3. Every day brings another photo of Tima that’s more cute than the ones previous. She’s not even visible in this one and we all know it’s her. You sure got more than you bargained for when you brought home this little pig. The same goes for Boo Nanny. Who knew? Sorry about the chook, Celi, and hope it’s the last. Have a good night.

  4. Many farm dogs and cats roam wide distances and return home daily. Curious creatures maybe looking for a pet, playtime, or a treat. It’s hazardous, Marmalade – be careful! Once they start, pretty difficult to stop the wandering.
That is a pig with quite a personality

  5. Stinky minky. RIP Little Hen.

But oh, my, the irresistible warmth of Celi’s farmy, where a sweet piglet tucks under her blanket for a long snooze in the kitchen, the lost Marmalade cat is sought by the faithful mistress and nanny team and then shows up bright-eyed on the verandah and eager to be brought back into the fold, and all kinds of kitchen graces are practiced to bring butter, bread, cheese and ice cream into existence out of mere hard work and fairy sparkles. Sigh! I am soothed and comforted by the mere mention of such loveliness.
