I love Sheila

Sheila my big fat pig who is not so fat anymore now that she is up and about in this better weather  and on her new slim show pig diet is the most wonderful Auntie to Poppy.  But she still tries to make a little time for me.  She is getting to be an old pig by commercial standards. Almost three years old now.

But I love Sheila more.

There is still not a lot of pasture, but enough to keep Queenie quiet for a few hours.

The chicken tractor (though I am calling this one The Tank as it is very heavy duty), is still waiting for its final covering of chicken wire. I will start it tomorrow after I top-sow another field. Not a moment too soon though as my somewhat reduced flock got into the vegetable garden this afternoon and the gardener was wild when he discovered the damage after work. ooops.

I hope you all have a lovely day

your friend on the farmy

  1. I love them all..the weeny, the small, the large, the furry, the feathered…..absolutely adorable…( but Sheila has character)

  2. There is no doubt in the mind of anyone who visits here, Celi, that Sheila is your favorite. I’ll never lose the image in my mind of your sitting with her in the swineherd’s pen when you discovered she’d been injured and was upset. Daisy may feed the farmy but Sheila is its heart.

    • That was a terrible morning, Poor Sheila, she would not even raise her head and coverd in ice, horrible. I think she took longer to recover from all that than we thought. I also think Poppy has been instrumental is getting Sheila back into better spirits. They are quite a pair.. c

  3. Oh C…that photo of Poppy looking up at her Auntie is beyond adorable. I think that will be my current desktop too. I still have that sweetie one of Marcel but this one steals the show! Does Sheila know that she is a celebrity pig? Does she have a tiara? How long do they live anyway? I hope a long, long time!

    • No-one can tell me how long they live because they tend to breed them three of four times then off to the market. So it will be interesting to see. Another reason why she needs a very good diet!,,c

  4. I missed seeing Sheila lately. She is my favorite, too. Who would have thought she would take to Poppy like she did.

  5. Oh dear! The chooks may find themselves locked up like the peafowl. I imagine they’ll like the nice, big Tank. Nice work! Big Dog is soaking up some warm sunshine.

    • Yes, i am afraid that until the plants are big enough to scratch around as opposed ot scratch UP, the chooks wil be inside, but once they are in the chicken tank they will be in the fields, so once they know that is their home they can come out into the pasture.. much better.. the eggs will be fantastic!.. c
