Godot

And his sidekick Mr Carlos Garcia have been released.peacocks-005

It took some fast talking but if I promised that the girls would stay in for a few more weeks then the  boys could come out already. They have promised Our John the Head Gardener not to wander into the vegetable gardens.  Cross our hearts and hope to die.  Yesterday they did not even come down from the top of the barn preferring to stay within eye shot of the girls. Tomorrow maybe they will come out into the light for some decent photographs.  I do worry about releasing the peahens though. They are laying eggs that are not fertile as the boys are way too young.  But they still might wander off into the long grass and make nests and sit and sit and sit. And while they fruitlessly sit on their eggs they are prey.  It does make me pause.

Good morning. yesterday we had sun and it was a fiercely and deliciously busy day. Today we are off to get Aida. I am going to bring her home in the back of the cooking oil car. She is quite small. I think she will fit. And she is only 10 minutes from here.

I hope you all have a lovely day.

Your friend on the farmy

  1. Aida looks like a beauty! She will be a wonderful addition to your farm. Good luck keeping those boys out of the gardens :*)

  2. Good Morning, glad you got to see the sun yesterday. On the news last night they said up your way it was cold and there was even snow falling in some areas! Cooled off here a lot, down to 38 last night, glad I haven’t moved my tomatoes out of the green house yet.
Hope your trip picking up Aida goes without a hitch.
    Hugs, Lyn

  3. Looking forward to Aida tomorrow! What do you do with the peahen eggs, are they added to the daily collection? So glad the boys have been released, they are going to look stunning wandering on the farmy – until they find the tomatoes 🙂 Good luck today. Laura

  4. Good luck with fetching Aida. Is that one of Godot’s feathers on the bobby’s nose in the bottom pic? It is cooler here today than it was yesterday – we had a lovely tea party outside then, but today there’s a bit of a chilly breeze.
    Have a lovely day,
    ViVx

  5. Can’t wait to see pictures of little Aida. Is it pronounced A da or a E da? Queenie’s bobby is quite fetching with that feather on the end of his nose.

Good morning and happy day, C!

    • Oh, good question Kim. I pronouce it ah ee dah. Accent on the ee. Spoken quickly with N accent it could sound like Ida. You are going to be busy in a few weeks Kim, we are filling up!.. c

      • Yay for busy on the farmy! I lay in bed last night thinking about my upcoming farmy trip….make that my upcoming farmy extravaganza. Whenever anything is extra special, it is deemed an extravaganza, a habit that started in my early teaching career. It will be the highlight of my summer.

  6. The sun WILL warm us up soon. Here in NE Kansas we are having 34 – 45 * mornings at 6 AM when I get up. Takes a while to warm up on the deck… Still, basil and arugula are poking thru the dirt in my deck planters… The cilantro is waiting a bit longer…. Have a lovely Sunday, Miss C….. Looking forward to meeting Aida!

  7. I hope the boys keep the word and stay out of the vegetable garden. We certainly don’t want John, the Head Gardener, getting upset.

Can’t wait to Aida grazing about with the other bovine on the farmy!

    • Won’t that be a glorious sight, not for a while yet though, she is still very small, just a baby, the girls would love her!.. c

    • My theory is that the girls zoom straight to the gardens, knowing exactly where the lettuce is, so i am hoping with the girls locked up the boys will hang about and not get all the way across to the gardens, not for a few days anyway..notw i shall go and look at your link.. thank you c
