Godot

And his sidekick Mr Carlos Garcia have been released.peacocks-005

It took some fast talking but if I promised that the girls would stay in for a few more weeks then the  boys could come out already. They have promised Our John the Head Gardener not to wander into the vegetable gardens.  Cross our hearts and hope to die.  Yesterday they did not even come down from the top of the barn preferring to stay within eye shot of the girls. Tomorrow maybe they will come out into the light for some decent photographs.  I do worry about releasing the peahens though. They are laying eggs that are not fertile as the boys are way too young.  But they still might wander off into the long grass and make nests and sit and sit and sit. And while they fruitlessly sit on their eggs they are prey.  It does make me pause.

Godot leaves behind the most beautiful white feathers. peacocks-022

Good morning. yesterday we had sun and it was a fiercely and deliciously busy day. Today we are off to get Aida. I am going to bring her home in the back of the cooking oil car. She is quite small. I think she will fit. And she is only 10 minutes from here.

I hope you all have a lovely day.

Your friend on the farmy

  1. Absolutely gorgeous how operatic and litereray and historical the farmy names are getting – loved Godot, but being an inveterate opera lover, like ‘Aida’ even more 😀 !! She’ll probably be a contralto – are the ‘boys’ tenors or baritones ? 🙂 !!! [Sorry, had three hours of sleep watching the Giro in real-time thru’ the night, so am apt to be just a tad silly!!!]

  2. I looked for the white feather–and finally found it on someone’s nose! I hope the boys behave themselves. Crossing their hearts and hoping to die might be more true than thought! Can’t be raising The Gardener’s blood pressure now, can we? I didn’t expect Aida to be able to come live with you so soon. Hope the trip goes well.
