… SMALL. 
So small that we do not take from the land more than the land can give. 
It is in fact impossible to live a truly sustainable life. 
But many of you and I are giving it a damn good try. But sustainable has become a trendy word, a catch all of nothing. Trendy. I hate to be trendy, don’t you? Once, a sales-woman in a dress shop came up behind me and looked at the coat I was looking at. She said in her high pitched sales voice, “That is such a popular line. All the girls are buying those, they are really trending.”Needless to say I put it back on the rack and left it there!
My big fat pig who goes for a run twice a day and is certainly not over-fed prefers: Old Fashioned.

Tima looks like the cat that got the cream! I wore a summer suit the other week in Dublin. A young lady – 20ish – admired it and wondered where I bought it. She told me it was right on trend this year!!! I bought it when Elly was at Uni in Scotland circa 1999/2000.
Maybe it was a TED talk, but I heard somone say “sustainable” isn’t good enough in some ways. We want to do more than sustain, we want to thrive, we want to give and get and excell. I think this can apply to farming, food, living! You do such a great job presenting your thoughts and feelings and the meanings behind them. You are beyond sustainable, you are inspiring!

If it helps the cause of ethical, sustainable, old fashioned walk the talk not talk the walk awareness & living then I’m willing to be deemed Trendy but otherwise no.
As most of my clothes are anything up to thirty years old, I couldn’t possibly be trendy, and I don’t give a tuppenny damn! All of your animals are superlative. I love every one.

How many people never seem to wake up to the fact that what is ‘trendy’ today, by its very definition and the financial needs of those ‘creating’ the trends, will for certain but quite ‘untrendy’ by the time next season comes around . . . .
What a relief to see the word “small” used so positively. Everything now seems supersized and overwhelming. Small is attainable! Thank you!

I just cleaned out a closet and have a bag of clothes for the resale shop, as well as another filled with all kinds of stuff. Rather see them sell it for the charity than have to put it out in the trash. Maybe I’ll pick up a couple of “new” plates for the blog while I’m there. 🙂

Nice that you are having an easy(er) Sunday. I know just what you mean about backing off being trendy. I’m the same. We get so used to living on the edge that if someone tries to plonk us right in the middle of centre we freak out!
