Above and below is Minouchki being beautiful. Yesterday, the kittens worked in the garden alongside Tima, Grace,Marmalade, Berrit and the dogs. They were very helpful.
They had a lovely day!
Though I was troubled. All day as I indulged in a day of weeding and gardening, I could not help cycling through the animals on the farm, in my head, trying to work out what I had forgotton.
It is because I am no longer milking and all the meat chickens are gone. I had an extra four hours yesterday. And it felt very strange. Even though Daisy bellowed healthily almost the whole day, Poppy escaped and came to visit me in the shed, Tima was discovered eating cat food and when I shouted for her to stop she grabbed a mouthful of the kibbles and carrying them in her mouth ran at full-fat speed out onto the verandah, where she dumped the cat food out of her mouth and proceeded to eat them one by one. Sneaky. Yet I still fretted. I had too much time!
Then I sat down to dinner and between mouthfuls John looked out the window and said; Is Sheila meant to be out? My enormous pig sauntered past, like a short elephant, blocking out the sun. No, I said.
Later Tima was once again seen being bad, stealing tomatoes in John’s garden, and darting right into the bushes with the tomato in her mouth, her head high to keep it from draging on the ground, trying to hide when someone walked past, so she spent the last of the day in her own little field out of harms way. She is a very clever little pig. I miss the cream and the butter and the ice cream and most of all the yoghurt and cheese. But it is good to have those extra hours to play in the gardens.
Boo and The Professor.
Four big red hens (that were too small to go with the first batch of broilers and have been living with the second batch), did not fit in the meat chicken baskets yesterday morning, because I had so many roosters, so I have kept them and moved them to the layers pen. They are lovely quiet hens, and I am assured that they will lay speckly brown eggs, so I will see what happens next. Saved by the bell.
I hope you all have a lovely day.
Your friend on the farmy,
miss c

As you have needed this “extra” time, Boo has needed someone to tend to. 🙂
I’ve got behind – and a lot happens on the farmy as soon as I blink! I’m attending to new life – a granddaughter who came early. Amazing how much time milking and attending to the chooks has taken from your day.
