Every morning now, early, after John has left for work and before anyone else is awake I walk down the creek path and across the bridge and down the road to let the calves out and see them into their new field.
Yesterday morning the sun came up into a cloud of low fog. The air was heavy with dew.
After we had fed the cats and chickens and pigs, the dogs and I cut through the back paddock so The Old Dog did not follow us and began our morning mile. A mile there and a mile back. Just right for the morning walk. I need to get in shape for the wedding in New Zealand you know!
To my delight the dew had drawn outlines of the spiders tiaras.
The low light behind the cacophony of strung spiders webs turned the ordinary into magic and not only that -when I looked further I realised that the field was covered in webs.
Thousands of them.
Even my path had been blocked off wth webs. What is usuallya 15 minute fast trot was a slow walk with a web stick, carefully un hitching each web and laying it to the side so I could get past.
The dentist was not so bad, three crowns in an hour and once the temporarys are replaced with the permanent crowns in two weeks things will get back to normal and I can chew as often as Daisy does again.

Queenie’s Bobby is back to his normal cheerful bubbly self.
I am very pleased with their new quarters. My neighbour is hot on the trail of a bred Geurnsey who might make a good house cow so I hope to have some good news about that soon. It is hard to find a milk cow. But we are perservering. I would love to have her settled in the barn before I go away in October, but it may not be until I get back. We will have to see.
I hope you all have a lovely day.
Your friend on the farmy,
miss c

The light at this time of year is magnificent. As are the intricacies of the webs. Love your cat feeding station – we use a stool perched high above, but our cat of 16 years has developed a hit n’ miss technique, so we perform sherpa duties.
The web shots are truly unique. Amazing. Lots of Charlottes out there. Love your red checkered pitcher.Love the three young’uns hanging out together. But three crowns in one day is terrible. Of course, I understand the need to husband your time, but …
We do not have the fog, humidity, or the spiders that you do. Or that those on the other side of the Rocky Mountains do. I don’t know why, we just don’t; seeing yours (and others) is always fun!

WOW – Busy Spiders! Great Captures – Happy Day on the Farmy 🙂
I could do with your beautiful lacy grass everywhere: we are beset with flies just now. We had to be in town early this morning for an appointment and it was VERY misty, but no cobwebs with diamond dewdrops.
My German mother used to say that spiders in the house bring good luck. Personally, I prefer them outside. I watched a spider hatch one day…..hundreds of pin head sized hatchlings. Fascinating!! A field full of insect catchers….how nice. Great pictures, Celi
Those web photos are nothing short of spectacular in the morning light.
I love foggy/damp mornings so I can see all the webs. I decided to call them Gorillas in the MIst in my pasture.
Maybe your new house cow will come already bred?? Good luck finding her!
yes she will definitely need to be bred, to calve in the spring.. that is my goal.. c
Hey… did you name this post after me! I love it, of course 🙂
Amazing webs, and gorgeous photos. The dining cats still life is fantastic. I can’t hunk of the name for your third ginger. Marmy, Lulu and ….
well done EllaD, you win the prize, number four is new (number three is egoli but he never eats on the verandah) this little fella is new and his name is marzipan, though john calls him skelator as he is taking his time putting on some weight.. c
Ahh, I wondered if it was the case of a new ginger kitty but I have been away, and although I caught up on posts, I thought I may have missed the news 🙂
Nope, I have not announced him really, he/she was not well when we found him and did not eat for days, but now that he is starting to thrive he can be named, Elise named him Marzipan.. c
Yes, the beautiful lady has ‘been away’ getting married . . . . and romance is in the air . . . . check her blogsite 😀 !!!!
Eha, you are lovely 🙂
married? I must leap across right now!.. c
🙂
thank you for not including pics of the makers! I was squeezing my eyes tight while scrolling through this post!
Gorgeous pictures! I love the porch view with all the kitties on the table. Dew makes spider webs so beautiful. But I can’t help but always remind myself….those spiders around there somewhere. I think I would have turned right around and given up on the walk!
still had to feed the calves, no turning back for me!! mornng april. c
Those aren’t spider webs! Those are the wings the fairies left behind when they got new ones.
Glad your dentist visit went well, I generally find that my terror preceding is much worse than the discomfort when I actually force myself to go there. You’d think I’d learn.
same!
ps, I once left an entire section of the raspberry patch unpicked all summer because a giant yellow and black spider lived there – shudder.
I guess you’ve now canceled out any chance of John (Bartolini) strolling out there with you! What a beautiful sight, that lacy spider wonderland in all of its bejeweled morning glory!!!
