Fallen clothing

It is the time of year when I start the day wearing a few extra layers. nothing-much-003

No, you are not going to talk me into using the F word quite yet but there is a wee chill in the air when the dogs and I set out to walk both farms.

So I wear all these clothes to begin and through-out the day I lose them  – then later in the day I  retrace my steps as I retrace the work trying to find the layers to put back on again.

Almost all my farm clothes are hand me downs from Johns son or his neice.

This Carhart jacket  (which I did buy about four years ago) is looking pretty thin.  Just worn in really.

These pics were not set up. I took the camera with me while out looking for my clothes! Bet you do this too at this time of year!

Today I am catching up on barn work, house work, updating the cast of characters page and tomorrow, if John is not working, we will bring Aunty Del back here to be company for Queenie – the sheep are coming back as well. I thought I had a buyer for them though actually I don’t want to sell them until after the shearing in the spring. But if a good home comes up I will let them move sideways.    Marcel is jumping the fences over at the West barn so he will be more secure here while I am away.nothing-much-019

Your Marmalade.

I hope you all have a lovely day.

Your friend on the farmy,

celi

  1. Here’s hoping the f-f-frost holds off for a wee while longer 🙂 Gosh from a tiny little scrap of ginger fur to that happy purrfect cat 🙂 You were right I named the two ginger boys because you have to have a name to be dewormed, deloused and inoculated – who knew? Have calm, smooth sailing weekend. Laura

  2. here in Denmark it is still a bit of Indian summer, especially around noon and I do the same as you when I start in the morning and I have thrown my summer overalls into the closet and moved into my fall overalls, but not yet the insulated 🙂 and I like your well worn jacket, looks like my well worn carhatt coat 🙂 stay cool

  3. before turning on the computer this morning I pulled a heavy fleece jacket on; first time this year. I remember a particularly cold fall when a woman complained that her husband set a rule in their house: no heat my be turned on until October 1st. Luckily we’re not cold enough yet to think of central heating.

  4. Thank you for the cast page . . . . it cannot have been easy to write but it brings such a warm feeling to one’s heart as so many of us have been along to witness the journey . . . the book to come will remind us of the whole story . . . blessings . . .

  5. It’s like that here a bit chilly in the morning but heating up during the day, we are having a really warm September. Marmalade is such a pretty cat X

  6. No extra layers here on Skye yet as it’s fairly mild. VERY windy though s that increases the chill a wee bit – just have to move faster! lovely photo of Marmalade! I’m currently painting his portrait but it’s taking forever because of the B and B thing. Also, it took me three attempts before I felt happy about those pretty eyes!

  7. Here in Australia I also find myself removing some clothing in the garden, but that’s because for us it’s spring and the weather is warming up after a long cold winter,it’s still cool in the mornings so I still have a sweater on when I go out early and start mowing the lawn or digging a garden bed for some vegetables but it soon starts to warm up and the sweater comes off and gets hung on a tree branch just like in your post.I try to remember to take it inside with me when it’s time for elevenses but sometimes I forget and it stays there till the next day..lol.
Thanks for your delightful post and the equally delightful picture of your kitty.
    Cheers from downunder.

  8. Haven’t visited the cast page in some time-it was nice to see pictures of those who remain and those who have moved on. I love this autumnal (I did not use the F word in your honor Miss Celi) time of year. I get to pull out all my sweaters and as my granddaughter says, “Be coz-sie.”

  9. I thought I was the only one who hung clothes on trees/fences when shedding them because of being too warm.
That Carhart jacket is well loved. I’m guessing John knows what to get you for Christmas. 🙂

  10. :lol:In Ireland we do that all year as we can have all four seasons in any one day! I need all the layes on when I go to the supermarket or else I would freeze. A quick look at the photos had me thinking… Celi has a new string to her bow – GROWING CLOTHES!!!
    Have a calm weekend.
