Still the heavy lid of the sky sits on my head. One gloriously sunny day in weeks and that was the day before yesterday. But I have always loved a challenge. And challenges don’t always rush in sat atop handsome horses wearing chain mail and carrying swords. Sometimes a challenge is just the repetition of cloudy days. We can beat this. First World Problems.
I could always Look through the Too Many chinks in the barn walls and wonder how long it can stand – this old barn of mine. Best to focus on the weather.
And it is warmer. We are above freezing these last few days. And tomorrow it will rain. Maybe this winter will not be that bad after all temperature-wise.
But when I take the shots so late in the day we get this.. blurs..
Though blurs tell a story too.
I am working fast trying to feed all the animals and birds before the light has gone and if I get too late into the chook house they all drop from their perches like fluttering stones (boulders) about my head, best to feed them before they start to roost – so if I start late I am in a hurry.
John bought me a new hose.. isn’t it .. UM.. bright.. ?
How is it that weather has taken such a hold on my emotions? This is a challenge. But I MUST remind myself not to leave the photographs of the day until the late afternoon. There is just no light. I need to take the Camera House out in the mornings.
If I were a chicken I would not be laying any damn eggs either! This is what happens if I leave water in the buckets over night.
These ice buckets have been sitting here like this for days and days.
Good morning. Today we have visitors from the city! Thank Goodness! Hopefully they will dodge the freezing rain and get here in time for the chores!
Have a lovely day.

You can use that new hose as a homing beacon…. Good morning, darling!!
that hose can certainly be the bright spot in any day! Got my Sheila shirt yesterday – my daughter asked if I will wear it – OF COURSE I WILL! Morning, C!
I hope it stays “warm” for you 😉
A green hose and a red coat. Your decorating is done!!
It is that time of year of short, gloomy days and when the sun shines, the bright glare shines every where without leaves on trees to shade.
hope your weekend is more cheery!
Well done John 🙂 That hose certainly removes some of the lead in the skies. Hoping the weather brightens up for you and your city visitors today. Laura
My calendars came yesterday! Love them! Especially Boo lying on his back pretending to be shot with an arrow (stick). I can hear him now saying “You got me” like we did as kids. Now to get one in the post to my Mum…..
You couldn’t possibly lose that hose!. Sorry your lovely day was an exception to the rule. Have a good time with your visitors.
Love,
ViV
Oh, It just brings home the differences, this post. I have to make sure I don’t water the vegetables too late in the day, or they get mildewy, and if it’s dark I might step on one of the dozens of toads, and the mosquitos will eat me, and I will fall over my dark green hose in the dark green grass. I wish I had your dayglo hose…. I think it would fit in perfectly with the tropical colours scheme round here!
Nice hose! At least it is easy to spot on the ground or from anywhere really.
the gloom makes us appreciate the sun even more
if given a choice, i always get the brightest color available
gloccoma, and diabetis doing a number on my eyes, so enjoy bright colors while i can
Gray days are more frequent here in central Texas too. Misty and intermittent rain, but we really need the rain. This is the weather where I look for color elsewhere to boost my mood, like pretty fabrics and in your case that neon green hose! Good job, John. Cuddle a kitten. That cures everything. 🙂 Have a great day with your visitors.
I’m back home in California and taking care of business like sending you a check for the calendar. I hope the weather brightens up for you and have fun with the visitors.
