You wanna come and play, kitty?

So all the kittens were named and presented with name tags. Counted, catagorised, sorted and inspected. Four of them being identical and all that, they had to have names. They were carted about. Taught to dance. Played in towers. Talked to. Watched and watched.

Made new friends.
Kitties as toys. (After the children left they all lay on the floor and slept the rest of the day away).
We did some farming too.
It was warm 40F ( 4C). So we filled the water troughs and marched about the hay bales, before feeding some out.

These children are some of the lucky ones. This is their farm. They say to their friends we are going to the farm after school. The farm, not A farm. The Farm.
Macaroni Cheese is one of their favourite lunches when they come to visit. Not yellow and not out of a box.
Good morning. The coyotes were out howling last night. An old, old sound. An ancient threat. Boo howls back at them from the sensibly safety of the verandah. Then goes back to sleep in his bucket. was it a full moon last night? It was very full. The fields glow silver these nights, denuded of all vegetation as though the light comes from within the ground itself. Exposed by the winter and its moon.
I hope you have a lovely day.
There is a kitten climbing my leg like a tree. Time to get to work!
Love your friend on the farm

I’m loving all the kitten pictures we’ve been getting lately! These are particularly adorable- makes me want a kitten even though I know I’m allergic.
Now that is a wonderfully worthwhile memory making day!
The silvery moon cast it’s ambient glow over the Oklahoma landscape last night too. It was especially quiet when a blanket of fog moved in. I’d spotted Daisy deer and Spirit out in the pasture grazing and as I walked beside them I marveled that the only sound was the tiny patter of mist hitting my raincoat.
Oh Mac and Cheese… my absolute favorite comfort food! I promise when I come to visit and help out I will do ANYTHING if you fix me mac and cheese to eat!! 🙂
Those kittens are a beautiful color. Like rosy smoke. I’d like to be wrapped in a blanket like that fur. And on the subject of beauty, that child is angelic looking. Very beautiful. And also on the subject of beauty: YOUR MAC N CHEESE!!!!!!
Beautiful. Just beautiful. The images. The children whom you’ve embraced and welcomed to The Farmy. Beautiful. You.
These are a few of my favorite things 🎼 kittens, little girls and macaroni and cheese!
Love this post C. So full of sweet goodness!
Now in keeping with the idea of more of your recipes on the blog…won’t you please gift us all with your Mac n Cheese recipe??
xo
All babies need children…as all children need baby animals!

The kids are still making name tags for them today. Rainbow colors now. 🙂
Wonderful on so many levels! And I didn’t know that macaroni cheese could come out of a box….really? Sounds dreadful (not that you’d ever serve it)!
Of course, The Farm -y, it’s where all the cool kids go after school or work…. or before, early in the morning cup of coffee/tea in hand 🙂
I overheard a conversation yesterday in a restaurant.. Two couples who just met. The one woman said to the other couple, “So you’re both engineers and decided to give up engineering to farm instead?”
Celi, don’t you love it!
brilliant!!
Fantastic post Celi!
I would not have exclusive eyes for the kitties in this instance: Miss A is growing into a real, natural beauty! But what names did the kitties have on their tags . . . When I come to play with them and their wonderful collection of toys, have to call them something 😀 ?!!
I take great pleasure in the joy that my nieces’ and nephews’ kids have when they get to come here to visit. I’m know as ‘awsome Sherry’ buy one batch, how about that? Another little boy, being a little boy, is enthralled with the tractor and skid steer and mini excavator, he bounces from one the the next with a ‘let’s start ‘er up!’.
The temps are a bit more reasonable here, upper 30’s to almost 40 F and while we were doing morning chores the coyotes were absolutely wailing out back. Creepy.
Of course it’s THE farm, you make everyone feel at home. 🙂
Oh and that Mac and cheese……yum!
