Well, it looks like the actual book list is going to be a work in progress for a few days as yesterday AND the day before became very busy on the farm what with one thing and another and I did not get around to condensing your comments into a List. However if you want to have a quick look for a good book check out the comments in the last post.
This is going to be a fantastic collection of very, very good books for us to read during the holiday season and into the year 2017. Two thousand SEVENTEEN! Merciful heavens but that came up fast.
Finally, I think I have all the ducks in a row for John to take over while I am gone. Just about everything began to unravel these last few days. But I think we have tied off the threads and averted any disasters. And things are back on course. Until it isn’t.
All the animals were laying about in pools of sunshine yesterday morning – it was lovely to get sun. And as things melted we were able to get the last of the maintenance jobs done – we had a few doors and gates frozen shut that I wanted opened before I went plus I managed to chip all the ice off the milking room floor and give it a good clean.
Don’t worry Lady I am only away for a few days. No need for the growly face.
Our wee Baby Barrow has gone to his new home and they love him but Nanny Boo and I are miserable. After he had gone poor old BooBoo kept looking and looking for his little buddy which made me feel even worse. He was such a dear. But if I wanted a pig to live in the house I would not want one who is going to grow to be as big as Sheila. That would be like having a small fat couch grow legs and follow me about the house. Just imagine! But I do miss the little barrow.
I begin my travels today. It takes just over an hour to drive up to the Metra which I take up to Chicago then Uber or train it out to the airport and then, if the weather gods agree, off I fly to Canada to spend Christmas with my son and his family.
The airport will be nuts so I hope to get to the airport early, the lines through security are always bedlam at O’Hare – they will be even worse today. But I like airports – the anonymity of it all appeals to me. I zone right out and shuffle along happily living in the single task world of travel.
I will be writing and talking to you all again tomorrow so until then.
See you on the other side!

Enjoy the break.
Thank you Arlene !
Enjoy your trip, I also love traveling.
Lucky for us, eh?
Wishing you the most delightful of travel experiences and a Happy Christmas with your son and family. I’ll keep good thoughts for you. It’s so hard to leave animals behind. Those eyes just drill holes in your heart.
Boo was giving me the stink eye this morning! Not so much ton. He would be more upset if a cow packed her bags and climbed on a train.
Now I’m picturing a cow strolling onto a train, followed by a fat couch that sashays as daintily as a pig, followed by a stalking, slightly irritated TonTon. Excellent traveling to you! And a very happy time with the family in snow-land!!
Much love!

The very safest of days for you. Happy Christmas to all.
I am on my way now – already my safety is out of my hands. Fingers crossed
Have a lovely uneventful journey and a wonderful family time.
That sounds like the perfect plan. C
Travel safe and enjoy your family!

If the weather gods say Yes. I hope so.
Me too!
I suspect that somewhere in the worldwide farmy a would-be entrepreneur is dreaming of a start-up company that will design robot couches that follow you around making soft animal noises and providing warmth when you need a nap or just a break. Once it catches on, the royalties due the farmy will provide a heated milking shed, a new well, and more fashionable cold-weather work clothes. Also Sheila and the others wiil have their own concierge vet. Meanwhile, i would wish you happy travels, if I thought you might ever experience low energy or lack of friends. “Safe travels” is what I shall pray for, instead, and a warm reunion with your son and his mountainy (Does he have a blog for his stories?)
A concierge vet! What a stunning idea! Love the image of the restful mobile couch. I think it would emit little piglet grunts. They make the softest sounds.
I can only imagine how much you all miss the little piggy. He was sooo cute! I hope your travels are ‘frett-less. ; o ) It sounds like you have it ‘all together’ when you travel… as always!!
I’m hoping you have a wonderful and safe trip and that Boo finds his way into John’s lap as he did when he was a puppy.

Merry Christmas Weekend! Enjoy! Thank you for all the lovely posts each day!
Bye Bye C! Have a very restful and happy Christmas with your son and daughter in law…I think you will sleep like Sheila when you are there! 🙂 I’m looking forward to traveling to Canada with you, as we all are! I LOVE Canada! We go up every summer to Loon Lake, B.C. one of my favorite places in the world! And Alberta with it’s beautiful mountains, prairies, rivers and lakes….heaven!
Nice to get your ducks in a row. Safe travels!
See ya 😆 Have a great Chrissie. Travel safe ♡
The best of wishes for you and yours this Christmas season. I wonder where you are now, since I come late to the lounge. Nothing to do now but be carried along to the next adventure.:)
I am in Chicago having lunch – with myself. Soon I will venture out into the cold. But for the moment I am
Happy being waited on.
