Shades of black and white

Cold up here. -26C/-16F  yesterday morning. I did not go outside all day and I don’t even feel guilty.

These photos were taken through the window of the slow moving shuttle as we crept up the mountain to Canmore on Christmas Eve.

I hope you had a lovely day yesterday.

Lots of love

  1. Looks like a good place to stay by the fireplace and enjoy an Irish coffee!! You’re supposed to sleeping in late and not posting at 5:43am!!! Enjoy your time with your Family!!!

  2. Baby, it’s cold outside! Brrrrrrr! I love the photo of the hay rounds in the cold, snowy field! A belated Merry Christmas C.

  3. 28 deg. here last night and, in spite of all our precautions, the pipes still froze. No water, water dishes frozen solid, so we haul out the bottled water to make coffee, water the critters, and —you all know how it goes. Colder tonight… snuggling time! Who cares that you’re 70 and he’s 80 – SNUGGLE! Have fun Ceci!

  4. Absolutely gorgeous scenery. We were there in June a few years ago and there was snow on the ground and it was quite nippy! Hope you had a wonderful Christmas and I wish you all the best for 2017!
Let me know if you have a longer stopover at YYZ, I’m only 20 minutes from the airport and would love to have a cup of coffee with you if our timing works out! XOXO

  5. How clever of you to position this trip at the beginning of winter. Perhaps some of the polar vortexes will seem a little less harsh with your Christmas treks in mind.

  6. Oh what a lovely shot of the bear’s campground – sleeping bags all rolled up and waiting for summer. That is what we tell the little ones in our family.

And, yes, you have to be rather tough to live in winters like this. But you also need to be smart! Know what to wear, what to carry with you and when to stay home! Conditions like that can kill you if you make mistakes.

Enjoy your family time and safe travels home again.
