Love this kids T shirt.

On the weekend we had a lovely group of city folk come down for a farm lunch.

And I just loved this childs T shirt. A message for everyone of every age as we move into the future that is tomorrow.

Look at the healing on this side of Wai. The vet is calling him a marvel.

Then yesterday morning I awoke to no internet again. Our land sits very low so no-one is sure how we have signal at all actually and the summer herons keep sitting on Johns tower breaking bits off it.

But all is well again for the meantime. Especially for pigs and dogs and chickens in the hay field. We have a new batch of chickens being delivered this week these are dual purpose so when they have grown a bit I will take the hens into the chook house and the roosters in to the chicken tractor. For mid summer meat chickens I like to have a slower growing bird – the fast growing meat birds get too stressed in the heat. These are White Rocks.  An old heritage breed that I have not raised before so we will see.

Amanda (who is on her way back to Texas today) and I decided to catch the train for Chicago yesterday, I have not been anywhere at all so far this summer so it was a wonderful change. We had lunch and puddled about the shops. Alissa and Micheal had the farm all in hand which enabled me to take some time off.

Today Chicago John of The Bartolini Kitchens cookbook (one of the most used cookbooks in my kitchen)  is coming down to the farm to show us how to make ravioli. He has filled my freezer with hay-making ravioli in the past. It is becoming a summer tradition.  This time we get a lesson too! If I have time and my hands are not too covered in flour I will document it for you.

I hope you have a lovely day.

We will have a delicious day.

  1. It warms my heart to see Wai looking and behaving like a normal little pig, free of pain and living life as he should be. And, are the dogs trained to herd on certain animals? They seem to be wherever Wai is.

  2. Great pictures of Wai. He’s looking very sassy and his little eyes are smiling! Spectacular. Glad you are having a break and have fun at the ravioli kitchen school.

  3. How wonderful that Chicago John is going to be visiting and making ravioli. It should be a fun and interesting day. Wai is sure doing well, bless him. Have a lovely day.

  4. Celi & John!! Have a fabulous time—oh, I know you will. Naturally, I’m envious. 😀 Can’t believe Wai is looking so well-repaired already. The power of patience, hard work, and love. Thanks for all that you do!

  5. With a “70% chance of No Rain,” you are good to go — outside. Or stay in and cook, depending. Ton and Boo seem competent to watch over the fields and Wai.

  6. *big smile* Do hope you had a wonderful Masterclass in ravioli and capelleti making and that your hands were not too covered with flour to document it for poor us who could not be there !! Am looking forwards to tomorrow’s post . . . . Glad about Wai: it is taking time but . . . .
