A little sun and out they come.

Everyone, including me, found a patch of sun to work/sleep in yesterday.

Just that little bit of healing warmth.

And then make faces for the camera!

Here is one of the sprouted seed crackers I made. My daughter in law sent me her recipe, then I found half a dozen online then I fooled around with it a bit. But the method is pretty simple.
SPROUTED SEED CRACKERS
In one bowl: three cups of flax seeds and 1/3 cup of chia seeds and cover them with water (about six cups of water). Soak overnight.
In a separate bowl: One and a half cups total of other seeds: sunflower seeds, pumpkin seeds, sesame seeds and/or vegetable seeds, cover these in water and soak to sprout overnight.
In the morning the flax seed mixture will be a heavy slimy mess.

Drain and mix the seed mix into the flax seed bowl. (Do not drain the flaxseeds). Add salt. Add any seasonings you like (garlic, chilli, seaweed or curry, parmesan cheese – whatever). Add almond flour if you think the mixture is too runny. Mine wasn’t. Mix thoroughly. Then blend in batches. Spread out on trays – thinly. Either oven trays covered in baking paper or dehydrator trays. Sprinkle with a little rock salt. Bake as low as your oven can go for about 6 hours until crispy OR dehydrate overnight. Halfway through flip the cracker and score into shapes. At some point you will be able to take the cracker mix off the tray and finish on the rack.
I used my dehydrator which made the process very simple. But the oven would add to the taste I think.
Pretty easy really, as long as you begin with the soaked flaxseeds. I see some recipes that add kale before blending. This is my favourite kind of recipe – that is really a method. You can make it your own.
I ate mine with cheese and onions for tea last night!
I will also be packing some of these crackers to nibble on during my journeys over the next few days.
Today I start my journey to California via Chicago. I will blog along the way. Trains, Planes and Automobiles! My usual modes of travel.
Have a lovely day.

Leaving Noah’s Ark I must say I am rather intrigued by those crackers and they are, as of this minute, on the ‘making’ list !!!! Happy travels of course . . . enjoy and come back energized . . .
Took me a moment figure it out; but love how Mr. Flowers managed to slip into the Guinea’s photo. SO much glossy fur and feather! Enjoy your midwinter get-away!
Enjoy your trip.
Intriguing crackers…will have to buy some seeds! I love how animals seek out the sunny or warm spots, my pups either sit in our little conservatory during the day or by the fire at night. Safe travels my friend 😀
Yes! A little sun and they are all
Out. Even lying in the snow!
Oh goody, this looks like a great Paleo recipe I can try! Thank you for sharing the recipe! Have a wonderful trip and enjoy a little adventure!
