I travel for a couple of months every year. Which means I am away from the farm for a couple of months at a time. I try to do all the travel at the same time to conserve resources and expenses but it means that general cleaning and maintenance on the farm spaces tends to go into hiatus while I am away.
And nothing stands still on a farm.
Today I will clean out the brood house – I will have to do some pruning because I had to duck under a tree to get in there and the other pathway was covered in junk. Lots to do.

I have to confess to not wanting to show you a shot of the front porch – (so I won’t) it went quite rogue while I was away but that is on my list to clean today, too. I almost have the house back in working order. A clean porch will be the icing on the cake!
I know this sounds weird but when the floors and working spaces are clean I feel happy. I was working on floors which is why I am late today. I need a machine that walks around my house and dusts sills and cleans windows – has anyone invented one of those yet?
Here is todays reel!
It is very sweet.
I have finally got the feed hut in order – the door had been left open while I was away and chickens MOVED IN!

My Flowers and WaiWai both are Sneakers. I will turn around and either or both are stood silently behind me waiting for food to fall out of my pockets!

OK! Moving fast – as usual.
Have a great day.

I love the “I am Happy” video. When my daughter was a little girl she said to me, “I could feel my heart beating all day!”
Oh!! That is quite delightful!
I am content now. Not wishing for something or somewhere else. (I said all that that aloud.) And it’s true, thank goodness. Thanks for the tip, Celi.
There is no point saying anything to yourself that is untrue! Wonderful to be content.
Gosh the work piles up quickly.
Jude looks so big next to you!
She is an huge gentle animal! And sits so beautifully for an apple!
Lovely. I needed to be reminded of this today. I am happy and so thankful to you for the wonderful video.
I am quite enjoying these small little videos with your lovely narration
Thank you! They are a pleasure to make. Now I make the long one for this weekends podcast!
There’s such a pleasure to be had in reclaiming order from chaos. On a tinier scale, I feel you happiness when I clear off my sewing table after a long, messy project, or clean out the chook house and give them fresh shavings!
Cleaning out the chook house and giving them fresh bedding is the very best! I always think they lay better after I have cleaned out the laying boxes. Do you?
I think you’re probably right! Although they are very good Girls and from 5 hens I generally get at least 4 eggs a day.
I am happy too when things are clean and in good order. I’ve had help for a few weeks just vacuuming and mopping my little place but that makes me happy too. Recognizing you are happy is important. Why do we forget to do that?
I leave for Madagascar on Friday. I know the animals will be cared for, but the little things I do every day may not. The Secret Garden may dry up, the weeds will take over for sure, the greenhouse grass may die off, along with the pumpkins. And the outdoor enclosures will be wild with weeds because the tortoises don’t mind and guests don’t see them anyway. *sigh*
I know exactly what you mean. And if you were to leave directions for EVERYTHING you do on a daily basis (so someone else can fully take over) / it would be a novel.
I totally get it.
