Minus 12 in celsius is very cold.

It is very still this morning. Which is just as well because it’s the wind that is the killer.

As soon as this blog post is done I will pop out to see how the white chickens have fared. Though they are well feathered and well fed.

I closed the big barn doors against the cold breeze that was blowing in the night but will open them again today to let the sun back in again. Even when it’s cold, the sun has some warmth and all animals do better when they have sun on them. Me included.
They seek it out. The Sun. Those patches of sun are often occupied.

Wendy P. One of the original Farmy Fellowes has made us some gorgeous fun Holiday Cards and they are up for sale. Thank you so much Wendy!!

All proceeds to the Farmy Family.
And more to come. This week!
Sustainable Seasonal Tip: Pop a letter IN the card but don’t write ON it. That way the card can be re-sent. My daughter and I do this with our favourite cards. Not only does it enable the card a second life but it makes the card a gift!
We will be adding more swag to the Zazzle shop daily now – T-shirts this week! And postcards of our favourite images. Do people even send postcards anymore?. I love sending them to grandkids with a little surprise hello!
What is your latest favourite Farm Photo. I will make it a postcard for you.
Have a great day.
Scroll down to hit the Zazzle link.

Tima has snow on her face.
Wai hates stepping in snow – I carry his food and water to his door (he has me well trained!) but nothing stops Tima!
Have a lovely day!

Wow -12ºC and I felt the cold here yesterday when it was 6º!
I love the pig Christmas card and Tima’s far too greedy to miss out on food in the snow!
Yes!! 🤭nothing gets between Tima and food unless it is a pretty solid gate!
A very solid gate 🤣
I just checked. We are at 25F and have freezing fog settled over everything, barely able to see 10 ft in front or around. I hope you did not find any frozen chickens this morning…better to pull them out of a freezer with the feathers and insides removed not as solid chicken chunks.
The chickens were all out in the snowy sun waiting for breakfast – no casualties thank goodness. 😅
Oh my, perspective is what weather is all about! In Alberta -12 is a nice warm winter day! We already had -20 in October and we complained bitterly that it was way too early in the season to drop that low. This morning we have -8 which is considered balmy for the end of November. We have been reading about El Niño will be driving a warm but dry winter for us here on the prairies. We appreciate the warmth but not happy about the dryness due to the huge risk of fires.
Oh yes! I am coming out your way again in Feb! For my grand daughter’s birthday. I have a ‘special’ set of clothes for Canmore!
Post cards would be fantastic! I couldn’t even begin to choose favourites, l love them all. Keep warm. Getting colder in Uk now snow not far away l believe.
Your farm is delightful and your animals are so precious. It’s sounds chilly, it’s “bundle up” weather for sure!
Thank you and welcome to the lounge of comments. Great to hear from you. Certainly going to bundle up tonight.
Very cold here now—wind and 16* at night. Warming up some in the daytime
Ha ha. And I guess you’re gonna send it my way.
Yep===wind and all 😦 Sorry
Would you be able to send post cards to the UK?
Zazzle prints to order and then mails them. I will get a few more on the site in the next few days.
Brrr. That sounds cold. Since I moved to Spain, anything below 15C is cold for me. (and I grew up on the prairies with -40 degrees at times) Glad the animals are OK. xo
Yes, everyone is doing well. I’m little concerned about freebie. But she’s alright tonight.
😊
12° here this morning. A day for two sweaters. And I know why I like Wai so much. He’s a pig after my own heart. Room service is the only way to go. And yes, I remember that cutting cold from the time we spent in Montréal. Thanks, but no thanks. I will take our temperate climate every time!
There is something weirdly I don’t know, attractive maybe interesting, about whether that can kill you
What, the cold or the room service?
Ha ha! The cold!
Oh reuse of cards reminded me. Years ago my late husband and I shared a birthday card with another couple. Each birthday the card came out with a new note attached. No note was ever tossed out. This went on for several years. I wonder what hapened to the card.
Brrrr
Indeed it is.
The first really cold dark days are always such a “cold to the bones” reminder that yes indeed the season has changed.I refer to it as not having grown my winter coat when actually I mean I’ve not grown accustomed to it by any stretch of imagination yet.I do grow that ability to tolerate and actually like the change .Wind is never ok. I loathe it. As an avid outdoor person, blustery cold skiing in New England as a youngster and now Colorado walking and hiking I love the smell of fresh snow.
I hope you have some thick wool jumpers!
The card ‘trick’ of including a letter so the original card can be recycled is great. Spreading the joy of finding a pretty card.
I enjoy writing postcards too, although the last time I sent some (from Greece to the UK), they took almost two months to arrive!
That is definitely the fly in the ointment. The Postal Service takes so long to deliver anything. Especially international.
My potbelly house pig, Roosevelt, abhorred the snow, I had to push him out the door and he loudly complained the entire time and I swear he tiptoed. Percival the Kune Kune, on the other hand isn’t bothered in the least by any weather.
Yes it’s cold~it was 11F deg here Tues morning in Central Illinois. And I haven’t had any heat in our house since Friday ~ n won’t have any til this coming Friday. The 23 yr old furnace went out right when this bitter cold arrives! Very cold in the house 59 deg, got it up to 60, 61 deg with keeping the oven on, a heater, n sleeping with 2 heating pads on me at nite!! Maybe I need some straw to bury in like Tima n Wai!!! Makes me think of families moving West in the early days enduring some very cold weather conditions.
Glad the Farmy animals are doing well in this very brrr cold weather.
Stay warm Celi.
Oh no! Thank goodness last night was the last cold night. Hope you have lots of woolies. Our furnace only turns on at 62 – we only warm the kitchen and living area. I hope you have a cat to sleep on your feet!
