The huge chicken is in the oven – stuffed with home made toasted bagels, oranges, onions, thyme, sage and oregano and balsamic vinegar.

It will be a long slow cook because it is Heeuuuge! And grown right here in my own garden!
Plus a leek and potato pie (the pastry is already resting in the fridge).
We did presents the other day so today is just lunch for the Mother In Laws family care team.
I am making lots of soft food for her too. Mashed everything. Her latest is to flick all her food back at me saying she’s not hungry. She spins her plate across the table at me. I can’t eat that, she says. I slide it back and I tell her if she does not eat I am taking her cigarettes away. Bless her but she eats then!

To be fair – she prefers Our John’s food to mine. More American. And the tastes she grew up with so I do get that.
Anyway best I get into the kitchen!
We have a high of 55f today then the cold comes starting tomorrow. And all this poggy mud will freeze solid. And Him Indoors will have to stay indoors. Walking will be a nightmare. Even without walking stick!

Have a lovely day.

PS Here is the last story on the Christmas Trilogy.
Another lovely story to write. And hopefully a good read later today with that post Christmas glass of wine. Comment. Share. Subscribe. Thank you so much.
We made it!!

Home made bagel stuffing sounds good. I make croutons with brown sourdough, herbs, garlic and olive oil, then crush them with a mortar and pestle.
My goose is cooked …and resting while I make the roast potatoes and gravy.
I’m taking a short G&T break now 😉
Oh!! I would love to join you in a G&T break! It’s only 9.35 am but might be ok to have a wee slurp of wine while cooking!
ROFL! I abstained until about 1.30pm 😉
Gorgeous and peaceful the way the farm is shrouded in fog. Going to my sons later for dinner, nothing for me to make! Have a wonderful day C 🙂
No cooking sounds blissful!
And to you!
Happy Holidays to the whole farmy crew (physical and virtual)!
Thank you so much!
A pile of bestest wishes which do not have to be put into words . . . thinking of you . . .
Thought you were in hibernation for the season! 🤭
Shh! You are not allowed to tell !!!
A wonderful Christmas to you! We celebrated last night minus two grand daughters – one in Nebraska with her new hubs and a new job so not enough time off to come home, and one as a travelling nurse in Hawaii right now (smart girl). The highlight of my evening was having my chef son in law tell me the oven baked chicken wings I made were perfect. Wow.
Sounds like your MIL’s cigs are like the Santa threat is for the littles!
A compliment from someone who knows what they are talking about is twice as good! Love it!
Merry Christmas Celi and Happy holidays 😊xx
That so much- straight back to you!!
Leek and potato pie sounds delicious! It’s something I’ve never tried. I hope you had a lovely Christmas, Cecilia.
It was good. But none of my own family so I just cook!!
Merry Christmas!
I hope you had a lovely Holiday called Christmas!! Thank you for dropping in!
You are welcome! And Happy New Year!
Sounds wonderful…but killing those lovely chickens…
I think this is what we need to remember too so we do not waste our food. Or treat it disrespectfully.
Good
