The Patient had an early appointment this morning.
So I was out even earlier in the morning feeding the cows and pigs and chickens in the dark. The wind had blown gently and very coldly all night. I followed my own footsteps in the snow from last nights chores. A bucket in each hand and the torch clasped under my arm I discovered that the wind had polished my footsteps into shiny ice.

Shiny slippery ice.
I discovered other interesting things.
•Quacker was sleeping on top of the laying boxes. I imagine so she can be close to her chicken friends.
•Jude could not find his food until I shone the torch on to his bowl. Pigs have terrible eye sight.
I made pig bread last night so I could hand feed FreeBee and Wai quickly in the early morning – to ensure they had enough to eat to last them a day in this cold. (-4 this morning). Tima and Jude being the food bullies of the farm.
I make the dough for the pig bread and allow it to rise in the slow cooker then just jam the whole thing into the oven to finish.

It was still very cold this morning so I was delighted to see the sundogs in the hospital carpark when we arrived.

The sun rising in the center. Her guardian dogs on either side.
Isn’t that awesome!
This week is going to be a stretch … so. Hopefully The Patient starts to get some answers from all this testing. I know this is an elephant in the room but not my story to tell. Even though you end up coming along for each ride. I am so grateful to have you.
Take care. Talk soon.
Cecilia
PS 🦋Have a read: ‘Well, Of course The Pig is the Driver.’ It was fun to write and came out in the Sustainable Sunday Letter.
Or 🐞sign up for the evening farm edition of TKG Take Ten.
Over four hundred people are reading and viewing every day which is fantastic. Both here and at TKG Take Ten. I am so honored. If you are able to upgrade (for $5 a month) my writing and the animals would be so grateful. I need only four more paid members to reach 30 paid readers. That would be grand! Thank you so much! 🍑

Oh so cold, l don’t know how you do it. Well l do, deep love for your animals and a truly indomitable spirit. I’m sure we all understand “ the elephant in the room” is not your story to tell , but l’m sure we all wish you both the very best. X
Plus the challenge of surviving out here.
I second all that Andy wrote and I hope that the Patient and all involved can find a way to correct, get through, and find positive outcomes ASAP
All we can do.
O! MY! GOSH! Those are stunning! We don’t get sundogs like that here!! Sadly
I have not seen any in such a long time.
Cold weather!!! COLD!
It’s cold here now with a forecast of -3ºC tonight, but the wind has dropped this week and it was quite nice riding my bike in the sunshine this afternoon.
That crisp cold air flowing past. Yes. That does sound nice!
Hell hound sun dogs.
The title of your post reminded me of this blues song.
The lyrics are here.

Never have seen sun dogs before! Beautiful😊🌟
They are amazing right? We only get them when it is super cold and the sun reflects off the ice crystals in the air. I don’t know science very well but Jim would – we should ask him.
Yes! They’re incredible. Yes, let’s ask Jim!
We don’t have them in NZ so they are totally alien and mind boggling to me!
Really? So that really is a sight to see. So grateful you captured it on film!🌟😊
Take care in the cold and dark on the ice, Miss C. We don’t want *another* Patient… I still want to come back as one of your pigs, snow or not.
I have never heard of sun dogs, Celi. Thank you for sharing not only the photo but you’re incredibly busy life with us. Best wishes for the patient and for you. I hope all is sorted out just as soon as possible with a positive result.
Still trying to navigate the US health care system. But if nothing else this year is teaching me all those lessons.

Wait! What is that thing in the sky? The sun? It has finally made an appearance here for a few hours at least. After a month of drizzle and fog, I almost didn’t recognize it.
The sun and her dogs!
Love making bread too stay warm.
I am working on a chicken bread now. It will be the best!
