Stay true to your mission

A sunset burst forth last night.

And reminded me that above those clouds. In spite of those clouds. Behind those clouds: I must stay true to my mission and not be distracted. Well, not much anyway because a good distraction is fun! My mission is to help people live a lifestyle designed to sustain life on the planet while supporting and healing the planet. This must remain front and center in my mind.

I am not on this mission to make money or I would have employed a team and you would be deluged in AI generated lists of How To’s. (And perfect photos and the right buzzwords and all that shit). (And none of you would have subscribed 😆). No. You know what you need to do and what you are capable of. I show you what I do and you choose what you try. Then we talk about it. The Lounge of Comments is critical to TKG health. And all I need is a few funds to cover feed and writing. My travel is paid for. I grow my own food. All subscriptions and sponsorship funds go to the pigs and the birds and the writing.

I am on this mission to show others how to design their own sustainable lifestyle because I cannot see me not doing this. Does that make sense? I am good at it. And we really, really need to help our people do without things like single use plastic by doing without it ourselves. Lead by example. Simple but not simple. Here since 2011. 💃🏼

Go here to see Sleepy FreeBee. Waiting on the sun.

And here for Sustainable Sunday.

And stand by for TKG Take10 Travel. Starting Thursday. Next stop California.

All of these channels I write on or create images for, serve to enable people to think more about using less, buying less, shopping local, living a little more gently, doing less harm, growing food, becoming a little more self sufficient. Nothing stays still for long. All our lives change all the time. Incrementally or with a resounding crash. The climate is changing too. We need to be able to support each other and flourish within these changes. And mitigate the damage we thoughtlessly do. You are the team that has accompanied me, and supported me, we have been company for each other throughout these changes. You do this stuff too. And I thank you for it.

And we are not going anywhere. I will be here (from wherever I land) as long as I have internet. And there will always be the land.

Stay awake. Be aware. Make notes.

My second mission is to promote the concept of kindness. Kindness works. It really, really does.

For all Paid Subscribers and Farmy Sponsors (via PayPal here) I am working on a pop up video call: Ask me anything! Let’s talk about everything. (Except politics 😂🏎️)

One advantage of travel for me is a good internet connection! So when I have all my ducks in a row and a strong internet connection I will email you and let’s Zoom. Stand by for that date. This is going to be fun!

Good morning.

It is foggy this morning. I am going to pack my little blue bag. And go into travel mode. I will be leaving the house at 4.20 AM tomorrow (and if it is foggy tomorrow maybe we will leave a little earlier).

I hope CA hangs on until I get there. I fly into the Central Valley. Not so bad there.

Have a great day!

See you for the evening edition at TKG TAKE10.

  1. The things I love about TKG and you…you do not preach, you guide. You never say “you must”, you show by example. You are about as authentic as anyone can be and you recognize that we all bring very different ideals and goals to our journey. You have taught me that small changes matter and that I will never be perfect and that’s okay because I am trying.

So many journeys with you C, over the years here at TKG. So many stories we have shared…as well as letters to daughters (remember that?) and now to Letters to My Mother and beyond. So looking forward to TKG on the road 🙂

    • You echoed my thoughts exactly Debbie. I know I wont be perfect but I am trying to make whatever little bit of difference I can. No plastic brought into my place. Just have to find a local baker for bread.

      • Thanks Judith. I think that’s a big reason so many of us have been with C for years and years. We know there is no judgment, just sincere reminders to think carefully before we make decisions and where impacts will fall.

  2. You have made a huge impression on the way I live my life. My HOA does not always agree with me but over the years they have gotten use to my sustainable way of taking care of the land I live on in an environmentally friendly way. We have a local organization called the Hub that takes in most things that our garbage company recycling does not. They even have a floor where you can take free things that people leave that others can use. What a concept. I compost so as not to have that in the landfill, I use wool pellets for fertilizer and moisture containment, I plant native trees/plants for the critters. One person can make a difference.

  3. “I am on this mission to show others how to design their own sustainable lifestyle because I cannot see me not doing this.” This is exactly how I feel about writing, so it makes total sense to me.

And I hope I’ll be able to join you on the zoom. Safe travels to Cali!
