A Well Placed Rocking Chair

I placed an old rocking chair in front of the barn and sat on it yesterday evening. And it was good! I never sit down out there. Why do I never do that!?

The rocking chair blends with the barn. Looking like it has sat there forever. Small changes can have big repercussions. I will take a photo of it today.

The moon is so big. And so full.

Second Hand Find!

Him Indoors is trying to tell me he bought this 1970 Porche 914 as a present for me. (He found it in a neighbours barn). And no, of course it does not run! Though it rolls which is apparently a bonus. And is a lovely colour!

He better watch out though – I may call his bluff and own it. It has a VW motor so it is even fuel efficient. And I do love a special edition. More on this later.

Back to the rocking chair. A well placed chair can change the course of the future.

All these photos were taken from the comfort of my chair.

Am I getting old? No. Not yet. I still run up the front steps to my house. When I stop jogging from task to task I might concede to a little aging.

It is a perfectly sensible decision to place a chair where I can sit and watch my animals. I am hoping that it being a rocking chair the chickens won’t use it as a perch. What do think are my chances? 😂

Good morning. I am writing the three things I hope to achieve today. They need to be achievable because I love success! And I think it is cheating to write the things I will be doing anyway! 🤭 so- hmm – oh I know- pot out twenty tomatoes and sow more broccoli. Yes. Ok – one more. Hmm – wait here is a good one: brush the dogs!

It is (again) unusually warm outside, and sunny, so brushing the dogs will be a pleasure! Maybe I will even wash them!

Have a lovely day!

Celi

  1. My guess is that there is very little chance that the chickens will not use the rocker as a perch! That’s just what chickens do, isn’t it! But even so, what a brilliant idea to put a rocker where you can sit, rock, and enjoy your animals and the farmy! We’ve got that here with our hammocks that have been back up since the first warm day in January. MIne beckons to me every time I finish a task! 🙂

      • Wow, NICE car Celi!! Wheel in the photo looks mint, are they all that good? And Original paint (although looks like there might’ve been some sun-fade, so matching may be a little tricky?) Really looking forward to hearing more about her, your p’tit Porsche Vert: )

  2. It’s a fabulous idea to place a rocking chair from which you have a great view for life and photos. We have many walking trails in our community and one of the things I love about the trails are the donated benches placed sporadically along the way. Wonderful places to sit and watch people go by and nature and its critters do their thing. Peaceful.

  3. Well this car story is going to be a good one! Fixed up and ready for you by the end of the travel season I wonder. It really does look like your sort of car C 🙂

I laughed when I read about the chickens in the chair. Just before that I was contemplating Mr. Flowers claiming it as his own throne. I bet there are a few cats who will claim it also 🙂

  4. The old plastic blinds broke a couple days ago and haven’t been replaced yet so I was awakened by the moon shining in the bedroom window and into my face. It was a nice surprise with a silouetted Brat the black cat sitting at the window looking out and outlied in silver. He almost didn’t look real.

Good idea with the rocking chair, I love rocking chairs. I hope the chickens stay off of it.

Neat car, looks like it’d be fun to drive.

  5. The 914 was manufactured and marketed collaboratively by Volkswagen and Porsche from 1969 until 1976. I hope to see a video with you zooming along, big sunglasses, and a streaming scarf. Please don’t do an Isadora Duncan.

  6. Ah, men and their automotive projects. My boyfriend has a bunch of them although not on a fixer upper car. Or are all cars fixer uppers? (eventually) I love sitting and watching with nature (and in your case animals) surrounding me. I also enjoy people watching but it doesn’t look like a view you would have from your chair. 😉

  7. That car looks like fun! My John and I once contemplated a sweet little two seater sports car. Fortunately saner heads prevailed – besides, John was a pretty big guy, it might’ve been worth buying it to seem him squeeze in! The rocking chair is a great idea. I’ve found you can learn a lot just observing the critters. I often ask myself why I’m doing something the way I am when a small change would make so much sense.

  8. That car project deserves its own blog. Lovely car, lovely colour, but I’d say the fuel would need to have an additive these days, since unleaded was unheard of in the 1970s.
