Something this way weary comes

The first thing I do in the morning is check my photographs from yesterday.

And these photographs guide my post for today.

But yesterday I was feeling cold and out of sorts. Not quite poorly but a little bloody. When you are feeling bloody it is like you don’t know where to put your body. You are uncomfortable everywhere. Your head does not quite ache but it might. You don’t feel nauseous just maybe bilious.

I felt bloody all day. I moved listlessly from one job to the next pushed around by a cold, howling wind under a skate sky.

All day the words “something this way weary comes” rolled about in my head. Weary. Something coming. A premonition of nothing.

So, there are no photographs from yesterday for today. As fractious and busy and vulnerable as I felt, I forgot to take any photos. This image of Mr Flowers above was from the day before. I did take this little video of FreeBee though. Making his bed.

Today has dawned still and sunny. Not as cold as yesterday – the temperatures warming right back up again. Shall I think about planting my garden I wonder?

I am back on board and will take more photos throughout the day. For you. Like I normally do.

No more feeling bloody.

  1. Yes, definitely think about planting your garden and all the wonderful fruits and veggies you will be reaping in the very near future!!! Then that bloody feeling will not return! Guaranteed!!! xoxo

  2. Ah felling a bit more the ticket today, that’s good news. I guess we must have the occasional bloody day to remind us how good the other days are! 🐖🛌💕

  3. So glad that feeling was just a one day thing & has passed. Remember on this odd day on the calendar year that if winter comes, it’s a weary thing & spring is right behind, not far off now. Better plan your gardens today. Our high wind event was less than hour yesterday about 5pm & just one big limb blew off a tree up the hill behind me, not on top of me, and my teeth are squeaky clean & all good & accounted for – for now. It’s cold, but I’m invited to out lunch at our wonderful La Bodega downtown where my plan is to have a vermouth, codfish croquetas & Basque cheesecake! Hooray! Mad should be happy for me. FreeBee’s bed will be a great cozy thing when he gets it all fixed just right.

  4. Glad the feeling passed quickly. It’s that time of the year, I feel. I often notice a change in wellbeing as the seasons change. And different energy around the full moons, sometimes. I’m recovering from being ill with a horrible cold which has been lingering on, so all of this has been on my mind. Looking forward to lighter, longer, healthier days for all of us.

  5. Glad it seems to be a better day. FreeBee makes me laugh and also makes me wonder if I should be using that technique to make my own bed with teeth and snout. It seems quite effective I think 🙂

  6. When my late spouse was feeling not quite right he’d say he “had the dwindles”. I’ve had them this winter a couple days. Not quite actually sick, but feels like it might be coming on, tired, things an effort, achy, not quite nauseaous, almost a headache. I think you had the dwindles although bloody fits too. Glad you’re feeling better today. Sunny and cold here but no wind.

  7. Feeling better today? Can you send free? Be here to help me make my bed? Sunny here after a couple of wet days, but we’re not complaining because we certainly needed the rain.

  8. That’s a perfect way to describe it. My parents often used the expression “feeling punk.” Not sick, just listless and under the weather. Glad you’re better and no longer bloody.

  9. Crook. As in, I’m feeling a bit crook. The word we use for what you describe. Oddly it was both of us. Might’ve been something we ate, the older we get more foods disagree with us, or the weather, seemingly endlessly hot sticky last for our last week of calender summer, but with only 2 more days of the same forecast before relief.
Hope you feel better soon. We ate very little light plain food yesterday. Had 2 glasses of very cold bubbly white wine spritzer with ice and left the aircon on overnight so we could get some sleep. Today feels ok.

  10. I really get this! The weather has been out of sorts, too. I somehow resented the fact that the temperature dropped and cold winds returned even though it’s still February. Today brought the return of the sun and mild temperatures and I’m ready for spring
