Haumoana Beach

Today is going to move fast!

My favourite kind of day.

But I will introduce you to the beach at Haumoana before I go. To get to the beach we run along the Mississippi Bridge. It has been named this for as long as I can remember.

These two shots were taken last night before my elderly artist second godmother (I am lucky enough to have had two fairy godmothers in my life) and I, had a light dinner of fish and salad and a glass of wine and went to bed early.

The surf sounds different here. Deeper. More sombre.

We are on the East Coast now. At the southern end of the round scoop of Hawkes Bay.

And now I am going to put the kettle on and run to the beach in my nightie to say good morning to the sea before Camilla gets up!

At 9am I get picked up by my brother and one of my sisters and we go out to Wharerangi Cemetery to bury Dad in with Mum. I am to say a few words.

Have a lovely Mothers Day to all of you who celebrate the occasion.

  1. Best to you today C as you reunite family. I must say I am liking the very rocky beach and that wonderful boardwalk. I am also having a time getting the image of you flying down the path in your nightie out of my head. Please tell me you had your gum boots on? That would make the whole thing perfect 🙂
