Works, Works, Works.

Mowed. Trimmed. Strimmed. Cut hedges.

And generally fought to tame the enormous green growth that follows spring in Central Illinois. (I could not even park my car – the hedge was so overgrown). My arms are up in arms (I am allergic to grass). There must be a particularly nasty grass out there. Itchy welt covered arms remind me that I need to wear long sleeves when mowing and working in a field of long grass. So, always.

Who ever heard of a farmer allergic to grass!

Using this new zero turn mower is slower than using the old one. But I will get used to it. I am not in the vegetable garden yet but at least we can get through the gates without having to battle the vegetation.

I slept all night!! Which was fantastic. Almost acclimated back to this hemisphere.

Jude and FreeBee have been wandering with the cows ( now that the gates are open) but their water remains in the old field so they have been doing the miles. That is not bad for them! They are also fed in the old field. So until they are shifted into their new root cellar field they can stay wandering back and forth.

Jude is always last to arrive back into the old field for meals – he brings the cows with him – which means that clever FreeBee has had a few good feeds.

R is coming out this morning to start the set up for the chicks. Then we move to the barn.

And this is my favourite shot from yesterday. There is a whole video of this going out on Wednesday evening.

Brown chicken with baby chicks tucked underneath heads sticking out. In barn.

Check out the cows on TKG Take Ten and if you are signed up ($5 a month) we have another video going out this evening of the barnyard. Lots going on!!

Thank you so much!

If you love this please consider sharing. Someone else might need this too. That would be awesome.

Have a gorgeous day. I will! It rained and thundered in the night (Boo slept under his thunder blanket again) and now the sun is out.

Perfick!

  1. Tima seems to have become an Auntie to the chicks! Thanks for the pig tour this morning. Good to check in with everyone. Maybe an antihistamine is needed for those arms? Order a supply online just in case.

  2. Sweet Boo, who looks like he could rip the boot off your foot with a mere sideways glance, sleeps under a thunder blanket. Life is brilliant.

  3. You are so productive after your journey. Well done. The pigs look very healthy. Ironic that a farmer is allergic to grass. Is it just certain types of grass?

  4. So good to have you back. Talk about “in at the deep end” you certainly go for it. Good to read about the animals again. If you will pardon the pun, the grass certainly won’t grow under your feet! 😊

  5. Getting acclimated to time zones can be tricky! Love the hen shot and can imagine the overgrowth. If I’m gone for even a couple weeks, the weeds take over and my lawn is knee high.
