No piglets yet. And probably none coming.

That is how I am thinking at the moment. I am waiting on one more breeder to get back to me.
We may have missed our window again. But – ah well.
The Chicks
Still doing well!
Here is a still from their video going out on TkG Take Ten tonight. The red light makes candid shots impossible so I turned it off to try and get some video and they are still hilariously badly behaved.

The turkeys are super friendly and nosey and weird looking. All eating well and growing like weeds. The ducks are just gorgeous. Very shy still. I gave them greens yesterday and they swooped on them.
The Calves
I brought the calves out into the center field. This white calf has still not acclimated fully – still has a runny bottom so I am keeping them close.

He is eating and drinking and chewing his cud so I am not too worried – just being extra cautious.

Plus I prefer that runny poop is pooped outside!
However to bring the calves out to the South I had to close Wai’s South door and open his West door.

Wai is blind and has his little routine worked out so he is very grumpy at me for changing his entrance back to the West.

He will be fine after he has had a good sulk and he followed my voice out to dinner before scuttling back inside.
Tima does not care. She is the most adaptable pig in the world.

The Pond
Look what I found in a rain barrel. Snails! I have no idea how they got there but that rain barrel is super clean so I have transferred a few to the pond.

Snails eat algae, though these are way too small to make a difference in the bigger pond, but every little bit helps right? I have not had the time to research them – they are very small. They unfurled and slowly crept down into the water.
Hay Making
All the hay is now cut and I am feeling the pressure to get the barn ready. This is heavy work. So it is first on the list after chores this morning.
The weather is fine (low eighties and going down to the low seventies next week) with a light breeze – perfect drying weather – unusually mild. All our heat has gone South. But I will take it!
And I better get a wriggle on while it is cool.
The Fields

The organic corn is up and growing crazy fast. Literally springing up as I watch.
This wet warm weather with a breeze is hauling the plants up out of the ground.

OK. The pigs eggs are boiled and cooled. Time to get to work.
Have a lovely day!

I hope WaiWai is happier soon. Those chicks look like they just want to make trouble. xo
Wai is up and about today – he only got confused when he returned to his booth. Otherwise all good . Dear old fella!
Oh no! Well I’m sure no new pigs will cheer WaiWai up no end. At least Quacker got her baby ducks.
And I am thinking I can do myself a favour and stack hay in the needy cleaned space. Much easier.
It’s a shame though, I’d love to see some baby piglets on the farmy 🙂
Still looking! You never know.
Fingers crossed!
My favorite shot this morning is Boo with the new cow- each checking the other out but I sense Boo is mentally sharing that ultimately he is in charge and will be right alongside Miss C in directing future action. I tend to believe that things work out the way they do for a reason and your flexibility is always evident so the no pigs/maybe pigs is a good attitude as you keep moving forward. It is not that you aren’t already busy but I know raising meat for the families is important. My wildflower beds are doing just what your fields are. I cannot believe the impact of even a small amount of sun is making to these seeds and I love it! So good to see growing green shoots everywhere. I am so excited for the bees and hummers and butterflies.
Oh yes! You get hummingbirds! That will be fantastic. I seldom see them here. And I bet your wildflowers will be amazing in a month!
What is so rare as a day in June, then if ever come perfect days.

Beautiful!!
Love your wee tour! Thank you
You are always always welcome!!
🙂
Everything looks ship shape and thriving. That’s perfect weather indeed, similar to ours right now.
We have days and days of sunny days ahead of us! And still so mild!
I have always wondered where snails come from. Guess it would be easy to look up… But really – what a curious animal. I imagine them lined up at a ‘graduation’ receiving their shells. A banner would read ‘Slug to Snail Grads 24’.
Ha ha!! That would make an awesome cartoon strip!!
The white cow is at the perfect farm to “settle” in!! I have always appreciated how you care for all the living things on your farm with dignity and respect and lots of kindness too.
He is doing so much better today. Outside on a field is the best place for a cow!
I hope you get your piglets. They’re so cheerful and boisterous. But it sounds as if you’ve got a plan B in case none are forthcoming. Maybe some apple cider vinegar in the white calf’s water? I used to find it helped with scours when I was raising poddy calves.
Poor Wai. I hadn’t realised he was blind, but he’s a survivor. Give him a virtual hug from me please. You have a busy few days or months ahead of you. Remember to leave some time for yourself and take care
Ah wonderful greenery Celi!
It is SO green!
