I keep checking the weather forecast urgently for rain. Again and again through the day, as though the flurry of my fingers will bring in the clouds.

Similar to a certain person opening and closing the refrigerator door again and again as though a pre-cooked feast will miraculously appear in the vegetable drawer.
We got a little rain on Saturday night. And it looks like there are a few chances for rain this week. The pig garden – with its edible plants – desperately needs rain now. The seeds won’t germinate without water. And every sunny dry morning there are more and more doves in the field – feasting on the expensive seed.
Speaking of feasts – I made bread!

This is a blended Einkorn loaf. It proofed super fast, like dough does in hot humid weather.
HERE is the TKG (the kitchens garden) Sustainable Sunday newsletter. I wrote about some of the lessons I have learnt from farming. Plus a round up of the week. It is FREE! And heaving with pictures. Of Course.

Either Quacker got a fright or is giving a flying lesson.

No flying lessons Quacker. I want you all to stay put.

It was a quiet weekend on the Farmy. Just work. No drama. My favorite kind of weekend.

Not so hot this week. Thank goodness.

One of my vege gardens is an old tub by the barn! I plant zuchinni in unlikely places trying to outrun the nasty grub that eats the stems. This one is close to the water barrel so it gets watered daily.
I am surrounding the base in coffee grounds. It seemed to me that was helpful one year.

Good morning.

I hope your day goes well.

Ha ha – I thought she was teaching them to fly too! I’m sure they’ll all stay put, life’s too good on the farmy to leave!
Tima looks like she’s off to town to see the wizard or about something that requires her attention somewhere. What a tank – the engine that could. I love seeing Ton, Lulu (?) & Boo, such dears.
She does look very determined!!
Finally really hot in UK. How you manage all those hoses on the farmy l can’t imagine, l struggle enough traipsing my used bowls of washing up water around to just water the garden! Good to see Quacker amongst the ducklings. Ooh that bread looks so yummy, how you find the time amazes me. That’s funny l too have someone who searches the fridge like that. He’ll be lucky🤣
Good morning! We have been having weather that changes by the hour. Full on downpours – full on sunshine – full on wind (WIND!) with tornado warnings – all in one day. Every time the rain comes down I DO tell it to skidaddle south … but obviously it is not listening to me. Keeping my fingers crossed for your fields. Despite the recent rain the long term forecast for our region is for a hot dry summer.
yes that bread looks wonderful! And happy to see Qucker among her own. I hope she is as happy with them as we are to see her with them. Always heartwarming to see Boo and Ton.
I think Quacker is fanning those little ducklings trying to keep them cool.
Hot here too, no rain in sight. But cooler than the weekend at any rate.
I hope you get rain! We could use a day or two of it also. Our temps have dropped also. High 60s-low70s, which to many are TOO cold. Perfect in my opinion! What a gorgeous loaf of bread. It looks bakery worthy!
Low 70’s – that is literally the perfect temp for me too. And lovely night time temps!
You reminded me, I had plans to make bread today. I need to get it started, I’m currently using a 5-8 hour proofing for a high-hydration dough. Your einkorn loaf looks beautiful.
