I cleared out some old dead(ish) bushes from the front of the house and so Tima has shifted camp to under the hydrangea (which is a disaster for the hydrangea) but Mayes for a cute picture!

Happy Fourth of July for those who observe.
I was chatting to one of my junior farm hands yesterday. Something about starting chores at 5.30am then I come in to write then I go out until morning chores are done (about lunchtime).
He is eight years old. And always hungry. He was leaning on the counter playing with the ice tongs as I made his cousin a cup of coffee.
He thought about this for a minute then creased his brow and said “Do you go outside every day?” This was a revelation to him that some people went outside every day! Voluntarily.
I sat down for a minute – outside the barn – and this happened:

And yes, they had all been fed already.

Off to work for me. 6.10 am now. After the animals I will weed the pumpkin patch before it gets too hot.

These really are lovely temps! And maybe a little sprinkle today to keep my pig weed garden growing! Fingers crossed.

I go many days without ever getting outside. Sometimes, now, I only get out to go to the market. I miss it so much.
Oh yes that must be hard and you are such a naturally busy person. All my love, old friend/
What a lovely stick Boo has brought you! Tima’s floral hat is ready for a Royal Garden Party, although I don’t think she’s quite the guest they’d like at Buckingham Palace… The only time I don’t get outside several times a day is if I’m sick, and even then, I mostly make a quick dash to let the chooks out or let Higgins out to relieve himself.
I truly cannot imagine NOT going outside every day. Sometimes, if I get trapped with indoor stuff I go out and just walk around for a bit.
I spent a week or so with the flu and particularly the first few days couldn’t go outside the cold air… being confined indoors made me feel old beyond my years. I missed the sun, sky, stars, fresh air and my garden.
I understand completely. When I had Covid and New Zealand. I was in that little house that little cabin out in the garden so I was able to open all the big doors. Thank God for that it would’ve been dreadful.
I love all your photos today. They are just fabulous.
Busy girl! Getting outside is a must right! Wonderful pics Celi
