Off to Chicago for the day

After a day and a night of rain. Seven inches of rain all told. pouring. Tropical warm rain.. after 24 hours of it, I think the weather is easing.

At midnight I got up and rearranged the cows so the grown ups and the white calf could come inside too.

Now it is early morning. Overcast. Dark clouds above. The world an almost iridescent green and surprisingly chilly. the corn has grown inches in the last 24 hours.

I will get chores done super fast.. Then dress for the city!

I hear doors. The guests are up I think!

Best I hurry.

  1. We are getting that rain today. I always know what is coming because we get it the day after you. This system works better than my weather app! Enjoy the day in the city.

  2. And we’ve had several days of temperatures over 100. Supposed to be cooler today. Have fun in Chicago–one of my favorite cities!

  3. we are hit with a day of heavy rain, and so far, the plants and grasses seem to be happy with it. i love how you rearranged the cows, just like someone might rearrange a drawer. ) have fun in chicago

  4. Me, too. We’ve had some sun on the southeast Georgia coast, but it’s generally hot, humid, and cloudy, with intermittent thundershowers. Sunny now in early afternoon, but more rain and thunder expected this evening. Your blog thread gives a good weather report for the whole country. Temp 90 degrees and climbing today.

  5. We had rain all day yesterday from Beryl. It was lovey sitting her listening to the rain on the roof until I heard a drip, then another drip, then drip, drip. The roof was leaking. Had newspaper, plastic and containers to catch the drips (about a gallon all told). Sadly it means the roof needs repairs or re-roofing which is unlikely to happen as the landlord hasn’t bothered to fix the roof that had the branch go through it last summer and the tenant is stuck with buckets and paper and plastic all year now. I know that the longer it’s left unrepaired the worse it gets. Bother!
