Look West. See the sunset? Then. Turn. Swivel. Look over your shoulder. Keep your feet planted. Look back. From the exact same spot.

Look East. Same light. Same time. Different direction. The land is so flat that the sunset lights the clouds in the East.

We can see light and dark from the exact same spot. A bit like life. Yeah?
Chicks and Chooks
I have to admit; I always hold my breath when I put little chicks in with big chooks. I ensure that they have lots of low places to run to, where they can hide from the big chooks. The older chickens are so mean.

But they are holding their own and thriving. Everyone is getting used to each other. It is much more peaceful in there now.

The duck flock is all about peace. They are accepting Quacker now as long as she does not get too close. Ducks float through their days. Quacker continues to lay an egg a day. Changing nests all the time to try and outwit me.
Waiting for a Wee Passel of Pigs
The enclosed pig yard is waiting for the passel of little black pigs.

R and I will drive North to pick them up on Saturday. I hope they will be warm enough. It was chilly last night. I am thinking of setting up the heated creep for them. I might do that today. So we are ready. Just in case. Last night was very cool. The temps are all over the place.
These little pigs will be almost 8 weeks old. Very young and very small.
In a couple of weeks I have to do a fast trip to California to help out my son there so I am being very diligent with the piglet entry to the farm. We need them embedded and settled efficiently and effectively. Warm and eating well. Fast.
Little pigs don’t like to be transported so I am going to be very careful that they don’t get frights.

White duck and his security detail.
Good morning. Another day ahead. Tuesdays and Thursdays (today) I have my farm helpers so I had better get on with the list for today.
We have lots of little jobs today.
And of course the ever present weeding!

Quacker is a smart duck! I’m really looking forward to the little pigs arrival.
so many dramas playing out, and you help keep them managed and mostly calm – well done
Thank you! It is a game of chess. Always thinking of the next move.
Life always throws little dilemmas into the mix. As is typical you are and will be well prepared and will utilize your helpers as needed. John being up and about I hope will help as well while you are in CA. I love that Quacker just keeps on being Quacker above all else. She is such a determined duck with those eggs!
Sitting on eggs saved her from being lost when the flock hit the Bermuda Triangle and disappeared.
Well then she needs to keep sitting for sure!
Good that Quacker is slowly being accepted by the flock. How calm and efficient everything sounds on the farm, though l’m sure there is a lot of paddling under the surface! Black piglets soon💖
We made the creep for the Passel of piglets this morning. All ready now. Just the long drive to collect them.
Lovely photos today, Celi. When I have visited down the lower West coast of Florida I love to behold those glorious flaming Gulf sunsets into the sea & then turn to the East & marvel at the towering shell pink & rose cloud banks backlighting the sand dunes & the beach. A friend of mine named one of her gray striped chickens after me – Judy. Now & then I get some of Judy’s eggs. Lovely treats. Do you all eat Quacker’s eggs?
Quackers eggs are for cakes. Though I always feel a little guilty.
