A Tiny Cup of Moon

The weekend was lovely. Back on the farm getting everything back in order. There were lots of clouds and wind and a tiny bit of rain.

But mostly clouds!

This kind of light fully saturates colour. Wonderful for photography.

A lot of walnuts fell to the ground in the winds. Which The Charlottes are thrilled about.

One man’s trash is another man’s woman’s treasure.

My son did not want this chain anymore so I popped it in my bag! As you would – right?

These naughty piglets have been escaping from their field to visit the cows!

And every time they escape one of them runs full tilt all the way round to tell me the others have escaped. Such naughties. And. Every time they escape I reward them with treats when they have come to me and we reach the barn. I wonder if I am training them to escape!

And then this morning! Clear skies.

And a tiny cup of a moon.

Go HERE to read this weeks newsletter. The walk-about was hijacked by runaway piglets which made for an amusing video. (Very badly shot). Plus UPDATES ON EVERYONE.

Lots to do.

Have a lovely day!

  1. So how did the airport personnel react to the massive chain? I can just imagine you explaining that every good farmer must have a variety of chains at hand… 🙂 Funny you mention training the Pops to escape. I sort of thought that very thing after the video yesterday, watching you carry that lid with the chicken food just to coerce that guy back home. Those turkeys look so very awkward perched on the fence, ready to topple off at any moment!

  2. Good morning Cecil………..You and I must be kindred spirits carrying “weird” things home on a plane. We had a vacation home on the San Juan Islands for years and always ended throwing away tons of food at the end of our vacation.

I became so tired of doing this that one year I decided to bring home about a dozen potatoes that I did not use during the summer. Of course, my husband carried the bags. I might add he could not believe how heavy the bag was, thus asking me “What do you have in here, honey, rocks?” To which I replied while trying not to break out laughing, “no, not rocks, just a dozen baking potatoes”.

I thought he was going to strangle me….it makes me laugh out loud to this day when I think about it!

Have a wonderful rest of your day.

  3. Another lovely black piglet video, thank you. The turkeys look like… well, turkeys! I used to often have knitting needles confiscated. Now l keep them in a funny little homemade cardboard “case”. Though l don’t quite understand why l wouldn’t just “release” them if l wanted to stab someone!

  4. Wow, your photos, especially the one of the field and the moon. I love blue skies but actually prefer a mix of blue and clouds. Luckily, we get our fair share of those days. The chain, hmmm. I’m assuming you have a use in mind for it. 🙂

  5. Ha ha – I think pigs just like to escape. Poppy and Tima excelled at it!

Walnuts are high in oleic acid, like acorns and peanuts, so very good for the pigs …and the pork.

  6. Those turkeys remind me of elderly French ladies. They have lost their youthful good looks, but they can still be chic and dress well! Love your sky colours and the tiny silver sliver of moon.
