thinking about: jumping

“Because, there might be adventure where ever I land” said little pig.

“There might be adventure but there will be a sore head.” says the big chicken.

Interestingly no little pigs have jumped off the top of the bales and into the corridors and away.

“We are leaving all the breaking and entering to the cows,” say the little pigs, in an off-key chorus.

Here is the story of why this pen was closed off and the little pigs allowed in to lay about in the hay.

“Scratch our bellies some more, miss c, and we will tell you some more tall pig tales, say the little pigs.

Aren’t you tired of wearing three layers, over-alls , a size extra large carhart and two pairs of gloves and two pairs of socks, miss c?”

“Why, yes I am and thank you for asking.” Miss c says and she awkwardly shovels some more little pig-shit into the wheelbarrow. “I am very over waddling across the slippery ice like a solitary penguin in distress. My big glove hands flapping at my sides.”

But a warm up is on the way!

I will be hanging washing out on the clothesline today. And that is worth writing home about.

Speaking of writing home.

Here is Wind in the Willows so far – this is still free to all until complete.

The👆🏽page where I gather all the chapters of my latest book is a work in progress (WIP) until the book is complete. So it is private for us while I compete the narrating. Then I will tidy it all up and publish to our Paid Subscribers on that platform.

Until then everything is free. You have a back door.

The Sunday newsletter is always free.

You might like to buy me a smoothie (or cup of wine) on my travels, or a tree for the fellowship forest, or a bag of apples and bananas for Wai: (or Jude, or FreeBee or Tima the Bad, or some soft treats for old blind Ton: in which case scroll down to the farm Pay Pal account on this site. Write in the notes who your donation is for. I will make sure they get to your animal! (If you can’t find where to leave a note email me. celima.g.7@gmail.com).

And have a lovely Monday!

It is clear and pink outside this morning. We must put Hope front and center.

“I know things are looking grim with all the American government executive orders that are setting our climate objectives way back (I feel a bit broken to be honest) but we must not give up on hope – keep planting those gardens, plant up pots of greens, keep your anti-plastic rules in place, use up all your food you buy, keep advocating for less consumption and more self reliance. Keep planting trees. Keep teaching ‘and then what’. Keep talking about clean water and air. Keep working towards sustaining and nourishing the earth, not ravaging her. Keep your energy costs down. Walk as much as you can. Keep connecting with and supporting each other. Be kind. Support companies who try to maintain climate friendly standards. Do your homework. We can’t give up. Every little bit does count. It must. We are the butterflies”.

You and me we are the butterflies lifting our wings.

  1. We are getting a warmup down here this week too!!! Yaahhhhhoooooo!!!! So happy about that! And, perhaps I’m being too hopeful, it looks like we may have not-so-cold temps through February too. We already have plants growing in the garden bay of our garage ready to go into the greenhouse this week! Very exciting!!! 🙂

  2. That 50 F out there is very tantalizing! Maybe even melt all this snow that is still laying around. Then I can walk around looking at bare flower beds and think about where I am going to put all these seeds that I have ordered.

As to the world/US situation there is an old proverb, I think it’s Jewish: “You can’t save the world, just do what you can.” As individuals we can’t really influence, in any great way, major moves by governments, etc. However we can and should take all the positive opportunities available to us toward the ends that we support on our own little piece of the world.

    • Victoria – you are so very right. Claim your little piece of the world and make it good. . I agree that just by taking responsibility for the little things we do has to make a difference- and you garden beds!! Oh that will be a delights!
Did you go overboard and order too many seeds? I did! And now I won’t be here. But that’s ok. Someone will grow them!

  3. I do hope warmer weather is on the way for you, don’t know how you cope! Those little black pigs lift my spirits until l think about that bastard American. You are so right, we must all keep living the best and most sustainable way we can, that much we can do.

  4. Of course it’s going to warm just about the time you get ready to leave! We are dipping lower next week they say, even during the daylight hours. Reading about the cows bad behavior in the newsletter last night I certainly hope when you do get back to the farm later this year there is a barn still standing! There is just so much patching you can do right? If that comes down I think a lot of farming decisions will have been made for you perhaps.

  5. Good morning Farmy friends from the other side of the world. Please remember that we are all thinking of you and the bully in the White House from so far away. We can do nothing to change him or his selfish ways but we can make changes in our own lives. I recently planted more zucchini, tomatoes, parsley and basil The slugs may get the basil before I do and the birds will maybe get the tomatoes but in any event somebody or something is enjoying/benefitting from my meagre efforts.
Thanks Victoria for the reminder of the quote.. Let’s make it our mantra!

  6. I am completely overwhelmed and feeling frustrated at the state of everything. We are entering an election too and there is so much stupidity and time wasting crap. And so entangled with the US, of course it is but too much. This is what happens when you put all your eggs in one basket. And oh the lies and promises with empty words and no substance behind them. Telling you all they are going to do and do it so much better than the last guy. But they never tell you how. It just will magically happen with an endless supply of money but with less taxes! The first politician that speakers to me like that, I will respond with “have you ever heard of mathematics”! Anyway that is my rant. It’s just all too much. We will plod along doing as much as we can in our little corners, growing gardens and supporting local, especially local farmers!

  7. It does all feel like too much because people like you and me and the fellowship are always looking at stuff and saying how can I help. But we can’t help everything. Especially liars and the people that choose to believe those lies. Keeping our corners clean and well tended and well fed and supporting the other people in our corner, then maybe helping out the people in the corner next to our corner is honestly the very best thing we can do. We are the butterflies!
