destination round up

Back on the farm. Out in the Aussie Burbs. New Zealand next. Me and my body are still in Visalia, California. Will I ever get over the feeling of being in multiple places at once!!

Wednesday here (in California) and two more sleeps before I blast off for New Zealand.

Yesterday evening I went with the kids to the local senior citizens hall for piano lessons.

I love drifting down into the mundane and ordinary in family life.

After a day home with one sick child.

Here is the last chapter of Wind in the Willows. Chapter Twelve is the penultimate chapter.

And then tomorrow, I’m going to read The Reluctant Dragon, which was also by Kenneth Graham, and is just delightful. It’s a short story so it will be read all in one take which will be fun!

Meanwhile back on the farm: Here are a few Wednesday shots of the farm for you. Taken by my friend who is doing some cleaning in my house once a week.

Lest the mice take over.

Dear FreeBee being friendly as usual. Such a social pig.

The fire is still going and more ice and snow are on the way. This morning John is making a dash out to Rhonda’s to collect the kitchen scraps gathered from her restaurants. Before the weather comes in.

How about this for a scam:

They are after our money every which way!

The Compact Kitchens Garden in Australia. The city garden with the beginnings of a country heart,

There’s a great big local cat that comes in and attacks our little cat in the city garden then eats all her food. Of course our little Aussie cat fights back then flees so there had been wreckage.

Anyway, here is KitKat (the good cat 🃏) who answers to Meow. Sitting sweetly as though butter would not melt on her mouth!

The roses that I shifted at the absolute wrong time of year have recovered from their rude prune and are flowering already!

Just add water! They are scented. The roses. Which is why I moved them under the windows.

It looks like I might have five minutes of weeding waiting for me when I get there in three weeks.

Have a lovely day!

Take very good care of each other.

What are you growing at your place today. I am being nosy! 😀

  1. KitKat is a beauty and sounds able to hold his/her own. The roses look scrumptious and fragrant too—-so many these days have the fragrance bred out of them in favor of other seemingly more important qualities. I’m not planting anything now although a week ago we did have a fairly warm day and I got out and planted poppies (Lauren’s Grape and Shirley) and pruned one of the roses. So things are slowly heading on toward spring but snow, or maybe a little rain, is in the forecast.

  2. Wishing you wonderful and safe travels. We received the same scan yesterday. It was for a small amount which left me wondering how many went ahead and just paid the fake fine rather than look deeper into it. Scamming is a constant irritant these days. BTW…the roses are lovely!

  3. It looks like you’ve planted rosemary with the roses – good idea! I’ve got some rosemary in the garden and am going to plant lots of sage and thyme. There’s already onions and garlic growing in the raised beds and I planted some leeks two weeks ago. There are broad beans tring to grow out of the propagator, which will be going into the ground soon.

  4. Today I am growing nothing, except lazy. The Husband and I and the doggos are parked next to Dale (daleelife101.blog) and the GO and lovely Deez, in the Queensland sunshine, at the beach. We are holidaying together. We have plans to do a whole lot of nothing except laze, eat, check out the op/thrift shops and the bakery, and walk all the dogs on the beach later when it gets cool. Hurry south, summer is waiting for you!

  5. glad you can relax a bit. today in Michigan, only. the snow piles will be growing as we’re in for a couple of snow storms in the next few days –

  6. Kit Kat and the roses are beautiful. Safe travels. I am looking forward to seeing New Zealand next! We had 20cm of snow overnight and having another 15-20 today. There will hold up on Friday but another 30-40 over the weekend. Definitely no gardening here.
