TonTon and The Big Dog waiting for the walkies to commence. And no, I did not pose them that way. Big Dog is untrainable. You will note TonTon’s beseeching expression. The Big Dog still rules the roost and is obviously muttering mean threats. WHO is the housekeeper around here I want to ask. Does she never clean? Though in her defense I will add that this looks suspiciously like a dog SHOOK itself AT the window. That kind of clean window vandalism is hard to keep up with.
No leaves for a few months yet. Still January, do not be fooled by the weather. February is coming.
I did put my lettuce was put out in the sun yesterday and it was thrilling watching those little green leaves reach up to the sun. Though they had better not reach too far or I will be harvesting nothing but stalk! My faithful wee sparrows love the sun too.
As do Son Of Neanderthal Man and his First Wife. Apparently in their hurry to get out into the sun, they forgot to put their feet on this morning.
Big Fat Mama who frankly is not nearly fat enough and Moaning Mia were led into the Rat House Paddock for a bit of fresh kai, well kind of fresh, more like old tough grass left over from last year, but they were happy.
So Daisy is peering Up at me. She has a two door stable door. From outside she managed to knock her top door closed, leaving the bottom door open. Now she wants to come back inside and be a nuisance but cannot fit through the small low gap in her door. She wedged her head under the top door and was trying to break in that way. It seems pleading looks abound today.
Here is one of the bee hives in the flowerless bee garden. Waiting for summer. Just like the rest of us. I can just imagine all those little bees sat on the edges of their little bee chairs in their little Bee Court and The Queens spokesbee saying Almost February People – Over Halfway Now and clapping all their little bee wings. It will be warm enough for them to fly out for a toilet break today (they do not have a lavatory in the hive, so that will be a great relief I am sure) and there are plenty of puddles around for a drink, so they will be pleased.
It is already 43F! We have had a Hawke’s Bay winter so far. I love this winter. Today it is forecast to reach 53F. It is dawning clear with a breeze and we are preparing to take all the John’s plants out for an airing and some sun later on!
Good Morning.

Good morning C, your brisk morning walks do invigorate me! Happy for me I can enjoy them while waking to 60 degree weather!! Those eyes on TonTon and Big Dog really do touch me….in fact the eyes on all your farmy animals grab at me so! As if they just want to let you know how they feel!
Good morning Linda it is a great day here though a bit windy. i love that shot of the dogs too! very unusual to get a photo of the Big Dog! c
The Big Dog sure is big. I love how photognic TonTon is. Great photos. We’re having a mild winter too.
You will be thinking about your garden soon Greg. I look forward to seeing what you are growing! c
I love to walk around the farmy with you in the mornings! We are also having a mild winter. People love it, but it will probably bring fires this summer. Love the looks on the the dog’s faces. Such expression!
Have a lovely day ~ April
Morning April, we seem to be getting a bit of rain on and off as well which is good. c

morning nancy, it is lovely isn’t it! We will see what happens next.. c
How did January fly by so quickly. I love the thought of the bees clapping their wings! You have such clear blue skies today – here they are steely grey.
Ah, something is brewing up there in the skies over your corner of Ireland! c
Ah yes, we were just cleaning cat noseprints off the french door panels and windows this weekend past. The look on TonTon’s face is priceless! Fun to see everyone out enjoying a beautiful day on the farmy.
Thank you betsy, I know I say it often but we really do have lots of fun!
We’re in the pluses again this week, too, C! And CELEBRATING this break from the freeze with my crew out in the mud. We must have the same housekeeper. My back storm door appears to have grinning, muddy happy faces smeared on it…. =D
Ah yes, that housekeeper! I am sure she has better things to do!! c
The coldest days are here too now… And snowing all day long. But in there I can see how beautiful blue sky! As always your little friends, how much I love them. This time your dogs’ photograph is amazing, you captured such a nice pose with the snow… Lovely Daisy. Thank you dear Cecilia, I hope and wish you have a nice day, with my love, nia
Those dogs are both leaning up against the window, aren’t they funny, have a great day Nia! c
I’m banking on, and keeping my fingers crossed for a mild February, as we too are ‘chomping at the bits’ to start planting!!! It’s been a wonderfully mild winter here, and yesterday even reached 70 degrees F! It was divine!!! xo
Wouldn’t it be great if this weather just wandered along, cannot bank on it though i am afraid last Feb was dreadful.. c
Totally enjoyed your post. Very interesting life you lead! Sounds like an adventure! 🙂
Lovely to have you drop in!! c
Wow I think your beloved canines have made a classic photo…better get that one printed and framed….nice to see all my farmyard friends!
I told them yesterday as I was taking their photos..” You know hundreds of people get to see these, so look pretty!!” No-one listens! c
Beautiful shots! Like you I am looking forward to February. Today we are suppose to get to 41*…I’ll take it. More dirt is showing up now and more mud leaving.

You must have some serious mud especially after the mass exodus of your cattle, they are so heavy all in the same spot. It will be good to dry that out for a bit, before the bad weather hits.. c
These beautiful January days can really put you in a false sense of hope that Spring is just around the corner. I love this weather for our babies, but I keep warning them that they better appreciate it while it is here 🙂 I love the expressions on the dog’s faces. Enjoy your day!
It is fantastic for your wee lambs. Every day like this is a gift. Especially as I can use the hoses to fill the water buckets!! That is a bonus! c
Looks like a beautiful day on the farm:) Thanks for sharing!
