Not so Mama. She is just calmly watching for the stork. In her usual sublime ovine dreamy state.
Yesterday every man and his dog decided to drop in, plus a couple of delivery men, the junk yard man, the farmer who rents the land alongside ours, the neighbours daughters (typical), another set of neighbours looking for asparagus, The Matriarchs dog and several assorted bit players.

Hairy MacLairy put on his best pose at Pats New Gate.
A state of controlled bedlam reigned for the afternoon with home made pizza and blueberry muffins to follow. I am still not entirely sure where the Matriarch’s dog came from but there he is warming my gumboots for me. No sign of The Matriarch.
Daisy was not wasting a minute of her allotted hour on the grass. She just ignored them all. Actually now that I think about it she may have sent Hairy to GUARD the gate to prevent any intrusions.
Mama must be getting close now, (how many times have I said that) and if there is breaking news at the wrong time of the day I might just HAVE to post a wee shot on the Kitchen’s Garden Project Facebook page while I am making a post for you.
Last night Mama put herself to bed with her head dipping above her water trough, I worried that she would nod off and her head would fall into the water. Lying down to drink is tired. Her feet hurt.
This morning when I checked Mama at 4, there was a tiny shower and she was standing ever so still just enjoying the cool gentle rain. No change. I sighed and came back in to start work.
But a word to the wise. There is no guarantee that things will go well. Mia has taught us that. Sheep are really not as robust as they look. She has a good team but in the end Mama is not as young as she was. But so far so good.
Anyway, Today is Old Codgers Dog Day. TonTon had his shampoo yesterday and is probably outside this very minute rolling in something hideous to perfume himself for his outing. Between the carpenter and my Sheep Sitter from down the road, Mama will be well looked after while I am gone. Though if she has her lambs on the only morning I leave the property this week I will be so cranky!
Good morning. I hope you all have a good busy day. I like busy. Until it is not. Then I like Not Busy.

If I had to pick my favorite photo in this post, I would refuse to choose one. Sue me! They are all amazing, and make me want to catch a plane and go visit you!
I second this comment, with all my heart. Each photo is my favourite until I look at the next one again!
I third it! BTW “Mama is not as young as she was” – Celie, none of us is – but tis true that I am more not as young than most.
Go on sally it is getting busy around here, thank you Rock and I HEAR you Viv, i have tired bones tonight!! c
Good Morning Celi. Your last paragraph is a great way of saying the importance of balance.
Evening frank .. stress is ok as long as you have stressFREE somewhere else.. My verandah in the evening is stressfree!! c
Well would you give birth if the entire farm was watching you? 🙂 Happy visiting today and good luck with the lambing. Whoa! Blueberry muffins? Yum! t
Hmm, you are very right Miss T, now I know you love blueberries but you will have to bear with me, my recipe needs some work, it is yummy but far from pretty!! c
I hope you will be there to witness the magical happening and I hope all goes well with Mama 🙂

Fingers crossed tat she’ll wait until you and Her Dog get home from visiting…harder than waiting for your own, is it?
Well, maybe not…
Happy Visiting Day!
At least i had a date!!! Evening marie.. c
G’mornin, Celi! Hairy is a watch ram! Who knew? I hope Mama delivers soon so that everyone can relax a bit around the farmy. At least things will be a bit more comfortable for her now that the temps have dropped a bit. And I hope this storm system stalls for a spell over you and your neighbors’ fields. I know you need it.
It did stall John, thank you for organising that!!! We had a nice cool drop of rain! c
Enjoy your visit, Mamma will fine. 🙂
J
jess I swear I am putting a marking halter on that ram next season!! c
I’m exhausted just reading – or maybe I’m exhausted from chopping wood all morning (I’m still not convinced winter is over) any way, I enjoyed the post in an exhausted sort of way.
Winter is over Roger, give in!! however you are going to be feeling very smug about having so much wood split and stacked for next winter.. you did stack it? stacking is my favourite bit!
Good morning, Celi. Ton-Ton is stealing the show again — I didn’t even see the sheep the first time I looked at the first photo. I hope all goes well with Mama.
Still well sharyn! thank you. everyone agrees she must be close but she could still make us wait a week! c
I think the Matriarchs dog want to join your gang! Fingers crossed for Mama, hope she delivers for you this afternoon when you are back and before you go to bed. Now…wouldn´t that be perfect?!
yes it would have been perfect but it is now evening and no such luck.. anyway i really hope she waits for daylight.. c
Mama best not have her little lambs while you aren’t there because them we won’t get to tag along for the ride either!
Happy Friday to you Celi and just 2 more sleeps!
🙂 Mandy
TWO more sleeps, i am beginning to lose my mind.. even daisy is bellowing about the ruckus! c
Yes, this has been a long pregnancy. But I certainly hope Mama has the grace to give birth when you are home. Try to enjoy your day and not worry too much about her back at the farm.
All good Audrey,m i am going to check her one more time then off to bed.. she seems unsettled but that is probably the storms that are wandering through.. c
Isn’t it funny how things happen like everyone coming on one day? I think that means Mama’s babies will be coming soon! Can’t wait!!!
