Queenie mooched about chatting with the girls.
And the boys. It was a lovely laid back evening with a glass of wine in the newly cleaned yards. Everyone could join in. Unless you are a pregnant sheep. 
Then No partying. Oh I remember those days Mama. For the pleasure of being round, over pregnant and tired- you can have no glass of wine and no wild gallivanting about. They will probably keep you up late. Then you will have to drive them all home.
Good morning. Friends from Germany braved the gale force winds to visit the Farmy. And a lovely time was had by all.
When I have people visiting out of the blue I invariably fall back on a quiche. This base is very quick and I always have eggs and some kind of vegetable hanging around.
The base is one cup of flour, one cup of oatmeal. 1/4 cup of water, 1/4 cup of oil, pepper and salt. Press into quiche dish. This is the standard base. It is very simple. Last night’s base variation was a sprinkle of poppy seeds and a small glug of truffle oil. Then add eggs, cheese and vegetables, not necessarily in that order! I love the deep orange of the paprika against the green of the asparagus in this one too.
Good morning. We are fine and clear here with a bendy tree forecast. The yards were cleaned of all the dung heaps yesterday (just in the nick of time) and today I shall carry on with clearing out the last of the dirty straw from the back pens with a fork and a wheelbarrow. It will all go around the flowers in the gardens as I prepare each flower bed for the summer. My rule is No bare earth. Also as I push the wheelbarrow back and forth I can keep a close watch of Mama.
My little chicks are growing at the rate of knots. And yesterday Kupa wandered even further, gave himself a fright by encountering a cow and put himself to bed early.
We have begun to water the gardens. It is getting dry already.
Now while it is still calm and light I had better get to work. The house is full of sun it is so lovely to have the spring light!

Good afternoon! Glad to hear that the chicks are thriving. Encountered a blog recently that had photos of dyed chicks, pink, green, etc., and I just cringed. It should be illegal to do such things; the dye is toxic to chicks.
Anyway, on a happier note, we had 1.5cm of rain yesterday. Hurray! It’s a start toward quenching our drought. Hope you and the farmy have a good day.

Oh, I envy your sunshine and outdoor wine with the cows! We have blue sky today but a bitter northerly is making my nose drip in the veg plot!

Poor old Mama! I can totally sympathize, having been very big and round and heavy myself only a year ago. Now that you’ve mentioned flower beds, I’m looking forward to seeing pictures of flowers here as the season matures.

That quiche looks fantastic! This is the first year that I’m really start to enjoy asparagus and I can’t seem to get enough of it lately. And oh poor mama. I remember those days of not being able to have my glass of wine either. I was pregnant with Mr. N when we took a trip to Napa with friends. I was of course the driver. 😉
Yes, I remember those days, i spent years as the designated driver, either pregnant or breast feeding! c
