The visitors decided to hang out in the barn yard.
Queenie mooched about chatting with the girls.
And the boys. It was a lovely laid back evening with a glass of wine in the newly cleaned yards. Everyone could join in. Unless you are a pregnant sheep.
Then No partying. Oh I remember those days Mama. For the pleasure of being round, over pregnant and tired- you can have no glass of wine and no wild gallivanting about. They will probably keep you up late. Then you will have to drive them all home.
Good morning. Friends from Germany braved the gale force winds to visit the Farmy. And a lovely time was had by all.
When I have people visiting out of the blue I invariably fall back on a quiche. This base is very quick and I always have eggs and some kind of vegetable hanging around.
The base is one cup of flour, one cup of oatmeal. 1/4 cup of water, 1/4 cup of oil, pepper and salt. Press into quiche dish. This is the standard base. It is very simple. Last night’s base variation was a sprinkle of poppy seeds and a small glug of truffle oil. Then add eggs, cheese and vegetables, not necessarily in that order! I love the deep orange of the paprika against the green of the asparagus in this one too.
Good morning. We are fine and clear here with a bendy tree forecast. The yards were cleaned of all the dung heaps yesterday (just in the nick of time) and today I shall carry on with clearing out the last of the dirty straw from the back pens with a fork and a wheelbarrow. It will all go around the flowers in the gardens as I prepare each flower bed for the summer. My rule is No bare earth. Also as I push the wheelbarrow back and forth I can keep a close watch of Mama.
My little chicks are growing at the rate of knots. And yesterday Kupa wandered even further, gave himself a fright by encountering a cow and put himself to bed early.
We have begun to water the gardens. It is getting dry already.
Now while it is still calm and light I had better get to work. The house is full of sun it is so lovely to have the spring light!
Good morning. Have a lovely day.

I want the quiche too! I do hope to see some cows drinking and dancing at a later date 😉
Cows, wine and quiche – now that´s my idea of The Good Life!
BEAUTIFUL QUICHE! I can’t wait to try that crust. Sounds yum-my.
that quiche sure looks good! we had some rain yesterday but we are really dry here. i am worried. we need good soaking rains. this could be a very dry summer.
I just made quiche, too, Celi — so easy and adaptable. It is raining here again (a good thing) — I woke to the sound of it on the window.
Fantastic looking quiche, Celi, and I’m intrigued by the oat crust. With all the wind you’ve had, it’s a wonder you didn’t need to start watering sooner. We had some brief showers late Sunday/early Monday but nothing of any consequence. I’ll try to send the next bit o’ rain your way. 🙂
That quiche looks amazing, I love the asparagus decoration.
Still waiting for Mama? Nature takes her own time, doesn’t she…have a great day, Celi.
Poor Kupa! A quiche is a perfect meal for surprise visitors and as a snack with drinks. Have a great day 🙂
I hope Mama didn’t have to drive EVERYONE home. So not fair.
That quiche looks amazing!
She is a rotton driver too, even sober!! c
Yum, I like the casual quiche approach, making notes here – when is Mama due? She looks a bit fed up….
We are not exactly sure when mama is due, I think that maybe this week, maybe, she has an enormous tight udder, and surely she cannot carry that around much longer.. fingers crossed.. c
I love how you laid the asparagus on top of your beautiful quiche. And the oats in the crust.., inspired. Surely Mama must be close now. I know we aren’t looking…but she’s pretty big!
YUP, NOT LOOKING!!! ah well.. soon soon I hope.. c
That looks delicious. You have a lovely day as well, c.
Morning sweetie! c
The quiche looks gorgeous, C. And what a wonderful, breezy evening.
The truffle oil was fantastic in the base, thank you again~! c
Your asparagus looks so wonderful in that quiche! Can’t wait to have some of my own, but we’re starting fresh from seed this year–so it’s going to be at least 3 years! LOL! Gotta start somewhere! We are loving the pictures of Kupa and look forward to watching him adjust and grow. Back to work for me–we are having bendy tree weather today as well.
I hate bendy tree days! and we are cold.. oh well, tomorrow will be nice! asparagus grows so well from seed, very satisfying! c
I don’t make quiche often, enough! This recipe seems simple enough that I might be able to pull it off! Thanks for sharing! I second Julie’s comment… I want to come to the Farmy too! But I have too much gardening today, so maybe another day? 😉 ~ Lynda
Yup anyday is good honey, if you get tired of your gardening there is always mine( laughter!!).. c
