Slumber party piggies

When I went to check the piggies in the morning yesterday they were nowhere to be found. Then I heard a grunt and a head popped up from below the straw.  I have been saving old hay and straw for months now for their bedding and it had ended up ridiculously deep,  about four foot deep. So they launched themselves into the straw  and old hay like a torpedo and slept completely covered.

I wonder where they got this as I bought them from a farmer who has many hogs and certainly does not give each pig a four foot deep bed.  When I went to check them last night all I could see was a brown snout and a black snout poking up like  periscopes up from the bedding.

They have discovered their new playground that only has a swimming pool yet.

TonTon almost had a nervous break down when he saw one of the  Plonkers carry around a STICK.

But when he saw them digging up the concrete, he knew he was safe.

With that behaviour he knew they would be in trouble soon.  And anyway Sheila is not here yet and she is Our Pig.

Mama is just grateful that she was able to be outside with her brood all day. There are  aliens  making strange grunty noises in the barn.

As an interesting aside. I have Minty on the frequent, sip only, diet that we discussed the day she got the bloat ,and yesterday  she was observed sneaking a quick sip from the Mama Milkbar on more than one occassion!  So all is not lost.  As long as we keep up the feed to Mama she may raise them all. Now that would be a joy!  Mothers milk is always the best milk.

Good morning

  1. Celi, what lovely news about Minty! Oh and those little piggies are so adorable!BTW, we are getting the leftovers of you bendy tree weather here. It’s not so bad you can’t get out, but it sure has cooled things down a touch. Brrrr! ~ Lynda

  2. Fantastic – things are going well. Wish I could insert a picture of what I can see from where I am sitting – the doors to the house are all open and in the field I can see from my front door are about 40 sheep and at least 15 lambs all having fun! Those piggies really have landed in piglet heaven 😉

  3. Great to see the pictures. Nature is so marvelous, isn’t it, Celi? We humans must be one of the species that needs the most training. Have a superb time with all your babies today!

  4. So happy all is going well on the farmy, that both the piggies and Minty are doing well. Hope the bendy tree windy day is not too bad. Maybe a little ‘kick back’ time is in order!!! xo

  5. Magical things seem to happen on your wonderful farm…I’m almost expecting TonTon to begin playing “catch the stick” with the new Piggy boarder…I, for one, won’t be shocked! I’m sure pulling for Minty…I just adore the photos of Mama and babies. I’m with my granddaughters tomorrow…we’re going to get caught up on the review of how are Celi’s animals doing. Next thing you know they’re going to want Nan to have a lamb! 🙂 Happy Sunday to you, Celi. Debra

  6. Wonderful post, all the way ’round! Those sweet little lambs, and smart little piggies…I could stare at them for hours.
Warm and gloriously rainy today, so time to tackle the never-ending pile of laundry…now that the Angel has discovered dirt, it can’t go a whole week anymore! 😀

  7. It did my heart good to know that Minty bellied up to the “bar” for a drink. Loved your description, too. 🙂 It sounds like those piggies are having a great time!

  8. Morning C 😀
Your little cute piggies have so much zest – slumber parties? Too cool!
And I am very happy to hear Minty is yearning for her mother’s milk and recuperating so well 🙂

    Cheers

  9. Such cute little ones running all around your farmy! Love the mental image of a snout peaking out of the hay. And I’m keeping my fingers crossed for Mama and Minty. 🙂
