WE had another wicked frost yesterday morning. The ground was crunchy as I trudged to and fro in my gumboots and clown suit feeding animals and getting ready for the milking. We still managed to pick kale, lettuce and radishes for lunch but the pickin’s are getting slim!
Mia has been let in with the ram. She is bigger than Mama now, good and strong and old enough to breed. She had a mishap last year, with a prolapse and the loss of her twins so I was hesitant. We have to give her a second chance. This is a farm for growing food after all. Poor Old Hairy was having such a time with the harness that I have given up. There is a rumour of a man who brings his scanner to a local farm later in the winter so I might load these two up and take them over. That could be an exciting day!
Minty and Meadow are hanging out together now as a flock of two.
Charlotte will be taken to visit a boar in January. She is definitely the biggest and strongest of the Shush Sisters. Gestation for a pig is three months, three weeks and three days. So if all goes well there will be babies galore in the spring on the farmy! I am still working on finding us a new cow for the spring to feed everyone.
Li’l Puss spent all day on the verandah and in the gardens. He will be fine. He is a feisty wee fella. He literally turned on TonTon and attacked him for staring too much. All claws with spitting and screeching. Ton, like the good dog that he is, took fright, turned tail and hid behind ME. For the rest of the day he gave L’il Puss a very wide berth.
Eva said yesterday in the Lounge of Comments that maybe I could show the progression of the Daily View on one page at some time. Good idea Eva. Thank you. So at the end of the month I will collect one or two from each week and pop them on the same page. It occurs to me as I am writing that maybe I could do a slide show, that would be fun, but that might be a wee bit beyond my capabilities.
And though I intend to manage my time exceptionally well in November unfortunately there is not way to actually ADD an hour or two.
It has been windy the last few days.
Very windy yesterday and quite warm.
Our min/max thermometer arrived in the mail yesterday, however the mercury has divided and is a bit bubbly. So I will have to work on it. Consulting with The Father seems to be in order. It is only in Fahrenheit but it will be hung right next to our favourite old thermometer so you will see them both in one shot. No need for equations. This is my plan anyway.
You all have a lovely day. A lovely, lovely day.
