“But, I’m a GIRL! Miss C”

All along this wee lamb has been So Noisy. Now I know why. I changed their coats yesterday, Mama hates when I do this, she will BAA straight into my face when I put smelly clean clothes on them but the hand fed ones had grown out of their first coats and have to keep clean for their outings.  And, Oh my goodness, what did I discover hiding under there.  A girl!  A Matilda lurking about with the Murphys.

“Hullo Tilly!”

“I’m a girl, miss c.”

“I see that honey, I must have checked the same lamb twice last time I looked, it was really pretty busy that day.  I am sorry about that. I hope you don’t get a complex. Your mascara is running. Does your Mama know you are out wearing that much make up?”aabbfeb28-019

“But I am a GIRL, miss c. I have a name.”

“I know, poor Tilly darling, I should change your coat more often. I am sorry. Now, can we talk about something else. I am feeling a little embarrassed.” aabbfeb28-002

Daisy came out to see how the other half lived and decided she liked it better in the barn yards. feb28-005

Some chickens love the mud, some not so much. feb28-006

Of course, Ton is in splashy heaven. feb28-014

Charlotte and Sheila had a lovely run.  Charlotte is back to her old self, scoffing everything in sight and honking for hugs. Sheila is still being gentle and smoochy with me.

Here is the beginnings of the mezzanine in The Coupe. feb28-002

And look, I see a little fresh green leaf, a legume beginning to grow in the hay field. feb28-017

I am sure that is a new leaf in there. Though it is still cold.

Good morning.  How exciting to discover that we have a rose between all those bright and cheerful lamb thorns. John said how are you going to explain that to your people. Ah well I said. I get a bit bleary eyed when I am doing four hourly feeds, I will cut the 2 am one out from now on, they are growing well and who knows what else I have been missing.

I have finished the lighting design for the Coupe and today we go to choose the fixtures, number the boxes and put corresponding numbers on the walls so the electrician can begin. The objective of my lighting is to to simply but dramatically accentuate the beautiful bones of the building, using reflected light to light the people.  The direct pools of light (reading, writing) will be created with plug-in lamps. A good lighting design is critical. You can tell I spent a lot of time working in the theatre!! (laughter)

There are two interior windows (one in the stand alone shelf and one in the bathroom wall) that will be stained glass. Though I have not found the glass yet. So if you come across any beautiful old or new pieces let me know. Lit from behind these windows will be gentle colourful night lights. And lit by the sun in the day. Well, you can imagine.  Light is a glorious gift.

Have a lovely day.

  1. Wow, beautiful photos of a wonderful farm. & I agree with you one you little girl. Waaayyy too much make up on one so young. Maybe you should talk to the mother?
As far as about you, you do look like you have a wonderful & full life. I hope you have stores at least 20 minutes away for a change of life when yours becomes too muddy. It also looks like the blizzard didn’t hit you at all. phew.-amy

  2. I just love Matilda’s sad, sorrowful look…..one that says what a sad story it is to have been mistaken for a boy all this time. So glad we know the truth now. She is a little darlin’!!! And the Coupe!!! It is coming along famously!!! xo

  3. Light is a glorious gift. C, I used to make stained glass, but gave it up when I got pregnant and haven’t gone back to making it. I know you will find the perfect windows. Have fun looking for them.

  4. I roared with laughter when I read what you’ve called the little girl lamb: did you realise that you’d called her after my friend Tillybud? I shall tell her immediately, she’ll be chuffed to bits. If you want a stained glass window, and could let us have a stiff template, we could make you one, though goodness knows how we’d get it to you! The South African chap who taught us used to make up a plywood case with a foam interior, but I wouldn’t like to trust that to the post! Maybe DHL?

We spent days doing the lighting plan for this house, and still got some of it wrong – eg the utility room lightswitch is behind the tall freezer and you have to slide your hand in Another wall-light looks as though it’s growing out of the top of the dresser. And there’s no-where near enough light in my workroom.

    Have a lovely day.

  5. Morning….. A little more female energy is always a good thing !

Own piece if you want !! He is a builder for Scottish Stained

  6. And a lovely girl she is. (Sometimes that tail is tucked between the legs and fools you! 😀 )The Coupe is coming right along. Come over and visit if you haven’t yet. Have a great day Celi.

  7. That’s how I ended up with Popcorn PeePee Pants. They thought she was a ram lamb and didn’t want her. I didn’t think to check, just trusted they knew (and they were experienced breeders, too!) and let her pee the first time without “getting it”. The second time…wait a minute, that’s not how boys pee ;-). They let me keep her, but we were both pretty embarrassed :-).
