“But, I’m a GIRL! Miss C”

All along this wee lamb has been So Noisy. Now I know why. I changed their coats yesterday, Mama hates when I do this, she will BAA straight into my face when I put smelly clean clothes on them but the hand fed ones had grown out of their first coats and have to keep clean for their outings.  And, Oh my goodness, what did I discover hiding under there.  A girl!  A Matilda lurking about with the Murphys.

“Hullo Tilly!”

“I’m a girl, miss c.”

“I see that honey, I must have checked the same lamb twice last time I looked, it was really pretty busy that day.  I am sorry about that. I hope you don’t get a complex. Your mascara is running. Does your Mama know you are out wearing that much make up?”aabbfeb28-019

“But I am a GIRL, miss c. I have a name.”

“I know, poor Tilly darling, I should change your coat more often. I am sorry. Now, can we talk about something else. I am feeling a little embarrassed.” aabbfeb28-002

Daisy came out to see how the other half lived and decided she liked it better in the barn yards. feb28-005

Some chickens love the mud, some not so much. feb28-006

Of course, Ton is in splashy heaven. feb28-014

Charlotte and Sheila had a lovely run.  Charlotte is back to her old self, scoffing everything in sight and honking for hugs. Sheila is still being gentle and smoochy with me.

Here is the beginnings of the mezzanine in The Coupe. feb28-002

And look, I see a little fresh green leaf, a legume beginning to grow in the hay field. feb28-017

I am sure that is a new leaf in there. Though it is still cold.

Good morning.  How exciting to discover that we have a rose between all those bright and cheerful lamb thorns. John said how are you going to explain that to your people. Ah well I said. I get a bit bleary eyed when I am doing four hourly feeds, I will cut the 2 am one out from now on, they are growing well and who knows what else I have been missing.

I have finished the lighting design for the Coupe and today we go to choose the fixtures, number the boxes and put corresponding numbers on the walls so the electrician can begin. The objective of my lighting is to to simply but dramatically accentuate the beautiful bones of the building, using reflected light to light the people.  The direct pools of light (reading, writing) will be created with plug-in lamps. A good lighting design is critical. You can tell I spent a lot of time working in the theatre!! (laughter)

There are two interior windows (one in the stand alone shelf and one in the bathroom wall) that will be stained glass. Though I have not found the glass yet. So if you come across any beautiful old or new pieces let me know. Lit from behind these windows will be gentle colourful night lights. And lit by the sun in the day. Well, you can imagine.  Light is a glorious gift.

Have a lovely day.

  1. It’s a girl! It’s a girl!!! i am sure she forgives you for the mistake you made in the bleariness of the birth process!!! Congrats! It’s like having another baby now!!! The progress on the Coupe looks lovely and I am sure you will find the right lighting to make it perfect!!!

  2. It’s a girl! How wonderful!
I am SO inspired by the progress of your coupe – I’m having daydreams of my own projects…….
Have a fun day picking out lights!!

  3. Hi C! I can see you are busy busy like a bee… I’m glad you have a new baby girl at home 😉 She’s precious. The new building is looking good and I can’t wait to see all the beautiful details you’ll add to it 🙂

  4. So glad you have a girl, although I think the eyes should have given it away. 😉
We did the stained glass trick in California when we remodeled our bath. The piece was set into the wall between our BR and the master bath. I had an old clawfoot tub for soaking and it faced the lovely window for a relaxing view! Strangely, we rented the house for a year before selling it and the renters actually hung a curtain over it! What were they thinking?

  5. Surely that adorable face could be nothing but a girl (with her runny mascara! 🙂 ) She has such a classic sweet lamb face and I love her name. So glad she made herself known. And no great wonder it took a while to discover when you’ve had your hands so full. Let’s see: feeding everyone on various schedules so many times a day in wind, rain, sleet and snow, building the coupe, milking, cooking, homeschooling, lambing, breeding, transporting hay, planning lighting and locating materials, coordinating contractors, managing a house, looking after the codger, visiting the old folks, planting…I know I’m missing a bunch here. Yep, no excuse for that oversight! 😉 Love all the great pics today and the coupe is really beginning to show it’s design…looks fantastic.

  6. Beautiful photos 🙂

Poor Tilly, she was probably a bit of a tomboy to be honest, much happier hanging out with the lads :). Will she get special treatment now she’s a girl?

LOVE your Coupe, can’t wait to see it finished!
