Comparing bellies

Piles of snow. Wonderful. All day yesterday it resolutely melted into the fields. Good snow.

Of course now I am watching Charlotte like a hawk for any signs of pregnancy.

Which belly do you think is the pregnant one.  Charlotte is just over four weeks pregnant now. Maybe it is a little too early to tell. She is due on June 17. OK, it is too early to tell. A ways to go yet.

Once again I had Kupa’s tail brushing against the top of my head as he waited in the barn for the snow to leave. He will not move when I push through the feathery curtain but his head swivels down  and he purses his beak at me.

Below you can see my summer table and seats, waiting beside the barn. Waiting for the sun to shine. We should call it the corner of Godot.

Good morning.

You all have a lovely day.

  1. Where is the Snowman? Good to see the Guinea’s again was wondering if they had fallen into a pot somewhere! Enjoy your day. Laura

      • But they do taste good! Much tastier than chicken. I bought one on Saturday from the local market – a new stall with 3 chickens, two guineas and a basket of eggs!

I hope your snow melts soon so that your pregnant pig can enjoy the sun.

  2. Wow so much snow does not bode good for spring… I would have thought by now the snow would be finished… our Autumn is showing it’s ugly head with cooler early mornings that makes my outside smoke break not so pleasant… do pigs show a bigger belly when pregnant.??

    • I can just see you hunched and stamping out there in the early morning.. I have no idea whether pigs show a belly but with all those piglets in there an increase in girth seems inevitable.. we shall see!! c

  3. Love the shot of the summer chairs in the snow. Is it normally this snowy on the prairies at this time of year? I was seeing on the weather forecast yesterday that the jet stream is running much further south than usual which is accounting for the unseasonal snow in England.

    • I asked the Old Codger this exact question last week and he said you can’t trust March, anything can happen. It is not uncommon to have two or three storms. One thing I know for sure, he said, is I don’t want tornadoes. Fair enough I answered.

  4. I keep having too many warming snacks and hot chocolates after venturing out in our snow so think I’m doing pretty well with the belly. Love your treehouse in the snow.

    • Yep they all gather close to the Godot corner and wait. Reminds me of that Dr Seuss book too.. maybe i should read it to them after we have finished the play!.. c

  5. Kupa’s wife has a very serious look on her face. Can’t wait to see Charlotte’s piglets…will June ever arrive? Or spring for that matter? Snowing here today. 🙂

  6. I am well familiar with the BC expression on Tonton’s face. When Penny makes it, she’s asking permission for something. Ears back, saying “Dare I ask… can we now?” What was Ton after?

  7. Hi Celi! I had to laugh about the comparing bellies! We did that for two months and finally agreed that our pig, Roxanne is pregnant. What finally convinced us was not the belly, but her nipples. So keep an on on Charlotte’s nipples and compare them to Sheila’s. Charlotte’s should get longer. Then after that her belly will slowly grow bigger. We are expecting Roxanne’s piglets the end of the month!!! Very exciting!!!
