SUN!

Sorry, did not mean to shout. SUN. Oops there I go again!

good-morning-rooster

but we had the most perfect sunny windless day. Naturally I opened all the windows and doors and spent most of the day outside.

gmorning-lambs

That is Tilly on the right, well you knew that, she is still into the panda eyes look. She is the most voracious lamb I have ever raised .. a real wild child!

Can we take the snow plow off now ChgJohn? Or is it too early to tell. Tui thinks No, she uses it as a step to get up onto the bonnet.

The rathouse paddock looks very calm as it waits for the grass seed to sprout.

good-morning-017

This is another view we will not have for long, as soon as the trees leaf out The Coupe will be hidden. Perfect.

good-morning-beehive

Did I tell you the date for the new bees has been changed to April 23. It has been too cold and the bees have not been breeding as fast as usual. So my little hives wait.

Daffodils in the last of the snow keeping cool and moist.

There is a hint of green in the lawn.

Good morning. Everyone came back home last night, so today we are back into fencing and picking up the last of the hay, Queenie and her crew are moving off the field into a smaller area North of the barn to wait for the grass to grow, so they get  a new round bale.

If this warm trend continues we should be able to graze Pat’s paddock in about 5 weeks. This time of the season is so hard. Waiting for the fields to grow. I need 6 inches, then out comes the electric fence and they will begin their summer rotation. Their introduction to green grass is staggered to avoid any bloat. Don’t worry I will be careful. But I am getting ahead of myself, there is no green in the fields yet.!

Have a lovely day.

PS This time last year I was making Hot Chocolate and watching the stock eat grass. And after reading this post it looks like the grass this year is about a month behind.  But it was already terribly windy and I am happy to miss out on three weeks of wind.

  1. Good morning Celi ; it ‘s about time you got a little sunny shine my cow wont even eat her hay she just eats the new growth sticks her nose up at the hay have a blessed day hows the weather today?

  2. I’d keep that snowplough on for a bit – Sally woke to more snow this morning.

I have just watched a long YouTube talk by the most fantastic ecologist called Allan Savory on how to green the desert and reverse climate change. He is now my hero. The clip is at the end of this poem: http://www.thezenofgavin.com/2013/03/a-sonnet-for-dverse.html. Please share it – the more who see it the better we’ll all be.
Enjoy your sunshine. We have a weak sun not doing anything for the bitter blast of the wind. and now we’re off to eat a much delayed Christmas dinner!

  3. Good morning, c! Isn’t a bit of sun good for the mood?! We had a flash of it y’day, and it was wondrous. Temps rising here, too. Today is 6C. Cloudy but at least it’s a bit warmer.

  4. I’m thinking, with fingers crossed, that you can remove the snow plow from the truck!!! I’m thinking, with fingers crossed, that spring is finally here!!! 🙂

  5. Wasn’t yesterday fantastic? Right now, I’m having a hard time seeing my monitor. This time of year, the Sun streams through the window hitting the screen. It’s a “problem” I’ve waited months to have.
And yes, get put the snowplow away for the duration! I’ll be draining my blower, as well. If there’s any more snow around here, someone else will have to clear it. I’ll be sobbing too hard to operate any form of machinery.
    Have a good one, Celi!

  6. Celi, is there a better feeling in the world than opening a house to Spring after a long, cold winter. I don’t think so. Throwing open all my windows today! Welcome, Spring. I have been waiting for you. HF
