Beauty Is as Beauty Does.

Sometimes we don’t need many words. Sometimes we need the words of the masters.mist-025

Because we are surrounded in beauty.

No spring nor summer beauty hath such grace as I have seen in one autumnal face.”

I know you all see beauty every day in the smallest and most unusual places. That’s why you, The Fellowship, are beautiful.  Even though we live in all corners of this spinning, reluctant, unpredictable globe, though a globe has no corners, and we can predict the sunrise. And sometimes people are mean and we don’t understand why,  even so, we have found each other. Let the mean people hear their own words echo in our silence, we shall not join them.

Welcome to all the new members of The Fellowship of the Farmy. Remember that if you like an image you are welcome to steal it.  If you like a comment you are welcome to join in anywhere. If you like a thread you are welcome to pull on it.   And if you like my words you are welcome to share them.  Kindness is our greatest strength. Apply the kindness.

Have a lovely day.

  1. What a beautiful post, Cecilia.
Both the words and the exquisite photos.
Great capture of the light and your animals.

    • When my father was teaching me how to run a camera he said wherever there is light there is a photo.. this time of year we have the most glorious light in the mornings, by far my favourite time to shoot. And yes, when I saw all these shots lined up on my screen i was pleased. Some days are better than others aren’t they. Some days it all falls into place. I hope you are having a good day Vicki and you are able to take your own camera for a walk today. c

  2. Beautiful pictures and beautiful thoughts. Yes, a wonderful way to start the day. And with words, thoughts and plans for deeds of kindness. xo

      • HI Celi! All is going well here! We got our barrow, Jethro, and also another Gloucestershire Old Spot gilt, Ellie Mae, named after characters in the old show, The Beverly Hillbillies. So now we just have to wait for Jethro to grow up! The saddest news that I haven’t been able to write about until now is that Bernadette, one of our initial pigs died, about a month ago. Both of our girls, Roxie and Bernie were sick, and we actually think they got it from us, who got this horrible virus/flu from a friend from Thailand who came to visit for 3 days. It took me 6 weeks to get better, and Jack the same. We treated both of the pigs with antibiotics and vitamin B (so difficult to give them shots!!!) and supplements fed orally and special foods when they would eat, which they often wouldn’t, and they thought they were getting better. The crazy thing is that Bernie seemed better, and we were seriously worried about Roxie, the one who had the 6 piglets. So we were surprised and so saddened when Bernie died. Sometimes life of the farm can be difficult, as of course you know, especially when the animals we love disappear or die. But our goats and the one baby girl kid, Betty Boop, are doing fine. We continue to make cheese and feed the pigs, dogs, cats and chickens with their milk. They are our ‘Daisy’ here.
The gardens are doing well, but I do know what you mean about there not be enough. When the veggies come on I think they’ll keep coming on forever, which of course is silly, and when they are finished producing I’m both surprised and dismayed! We are planting the fall gardens and are excited about that. Goodness, so much to tell you. I’ll stop for now though! Thinking of you and The September Challenge! Di

  3. And here I am, brought almost to tears and caught completely unawares by this beautiful post. The wisdom of so many peoples, caught up in a few words. And the Farmy wisdom, I am coming to realise, is some of the most worth listening to. What a gift you have brought us today, Celi. Thank you.
