Sometimes pigs do play with sticks.

They carry them about in their  mouths and have races. TonTon knows this  about pigs and sticks, so he is always ready.

Boo on the other hand is not invited in for games.camera-house2-015

Just as well too. He steals the sticks and runs off.

The men finished lowering the corn curtain on my third and fourth sides yesterday.

Many of my fence posts (that are recycled telegraph poles)  have strange things sitting on top of them. One day I must show you.

I have been very busy the last few days with getting the farm ready for Our John and the Lady down the Road to take over.  She can even see my house from her house now that the corn is down.

Things really are quite easy now.  I have opened three gates so that Mama and her flock and Queenie and Daisy can wander about at will and put themselves in and out of the barn should it rain.  Hairy has been led reluctantly into the rat house paddock, he sleeps down in the root cellar if the weather turns nasty and Sheila will  remain in her own field while I am away with her  barn sunporch door open.

TonTon will go to stay with The Matriarch  But Boo and The Big Dog will stay on the farm with their visitors.

The daily view with my city lens. Even Camera House gets to wear a different look when we visit the city. But I do not leave until tomorrow. So there is time yet.

For my little surprise while I am away I have asked a few of the rural commentors, who do not have blogs, to be guest bloggers.  So wee can get to know them better. It has been fun loading their pages and pictures for you.  You are in for a real treat.

I will pop in tomorrow morning though,  so you are right up to date before I leave. There will be plenty of people and dogs out here on the farm while I am gone, so if there is any news I will let you know.

Naturally, today I am going to take myself out to Route 66 to have my hair done at the hairdressers. Maybe Camera House will come as well, not to document the taming of my mop but the little town of Pontiac in Route 66  is very sweet.

Have a lovely day.

Love your friend,

celi

ps. I see that this is my 800th post. 800 pages about the farmy. Wow. I am pleased with that. And so grateful to have you all along for the ride.

  1. I thought you’d already left! Whatever, have a good hair day and bring pictures of Pontiac…I can’t believe there’s a town called Pontiac on Route 66…it should really be called Corvette as that was the star car in the Route 66 TV series of the early 60’s ,,,just so long ago.

      • Right now I can hear him snorking. Recently I had some Italian couch surfers come to stay and they were telling me how bad they are at travelling together because each accuses the other of keeping him awake with their “snorking”. I actually think this is a better and more descriptive word than snoring and plan to use it in the future whenever I can.

  2. Have a great time! Isn’t it a lot of work to get the farm and animals ready to be gone a few days? I always work hard to try to keep it easy(ier) for whomever is stepping in to cover when I’m away.

    • Growing up on a southwestern Minnesota dairy farm, I ever only went on two vacations during my childhood because it was so difficult for my dad to find someone to milk the cows. As I grew into a teen, along with an older brother, my parents left the farm in our care several times to vacation, taking my younger siblings with them. Once again, no vacation. But I’m glad my parents were able to get away for awhile.

  3. Morning Celi
I just love the pic of Baby Marmalade sleeping tucked up warm with Nanny Boo! Everytime I see the two of them I just have to smile :)………I am up early today watching tennis on TV….have to keep up with my Rafa Nadal who is playing now in Paris. Have a wonderful trip to Cali and happy times with your family!! We’ll all be here when you get back! 🙂

  4. 800 posts that is quite something… well done… everything looks ship shape so you can go off for a few days… and lets see who you’ve put in your place…

  5. 800! Well done. That’s a wonderful milestone. I’m looking forward to meeting new people and the guest posts. Have a lovely trip and happy trails. 🙂

      • Snorts – I’m still not much of a nature pig yet. But with saying that, mom has found some very interesting things in my toddler bed when tucking me in. For instance, dad’s television remote, purr things play mice, mom’s socks and once mom’s keys (I didn’t want her to go to the worky place). XOXO – Bacon
