Sometimes pigs do play with sticks.

They carry them about in their  mouths and have races. TonTon knows this  about pigs and sticks, so he is always ready.

Boo on the other hand is not invited in for games.camera-house2-015

Just as well too. He steals the sticks and runs off.

The men finished lowering the corn curtain on my third and fourth sides yesterday.

Many of my fence posts (that are recycled telegraph poles)  have strange things sitting on top of them. One day I must show you.

I have been very busy the last few days with getting the farm ready for Our John and the Lady down the Road to take over.  She can even see my house from her house now that the corn is down.

Things really are quite easy now.  I have opened three gates so that Mama and her flock and Queenie and Daisy can wander about at will and put themselves in and out of the barn should it rain.  Hairy has been led reluctantly into the rat house paddock, he sleeps down in the root cellar if the weather turns nasty and Sheila will  remain in her own field while I am away with her  barn sunporch door open.

TonTon will go to stay with The Matriarch  But Boo and The Big Dog will stay on the farm with their visitors.

The daily view with my city lens. Even Camera House gets to wear a different look when we visit the city. But I do not leave until tomorrow. So there is time yet.

For my little surprise while I am away I have asked a few of the rural commentors, who do not have blogs, to be guest bloggers.  So wee can get to know them better. It has been fun loading their pages and pictures for you.  You are in for a real treat.

I will pop in tomorrow morning though,  so you are right up to date before I leave. There will be plenty of people and dogs out here on the farm while I am gone, so if there is any news I will let you know.

Naturally, today I am going to take myself out to Route 66 to have my hair done at the hairdressers. Maybe Camera House will come as well, not to document the taming of my mop but the little town of Pontiac in Route 66  is very sweet.

Have a lovely day.

Love your friend,

celi

ps. I see that this is my 800th post. 800 pages about the farmy. Wow. I am pleased with that. And so grateful to have you all along for the ride.

  1. I can’t imagine preparing to leave all the animals – we couldn’t even leave one dog and finally decided to take him with us. Not that I’m suggesting taking your crew along – haha!

  2. Thank you, and congrats, on the 800 posts. I have loved living every one of them 🙂 Happy travels and revel in those family moments. Laura

  3. Have a wonderful time Celi and come back full of tales but rested!
Believe me you are not the only one to leave note – in my petsitting job I find notes all over the place, plus some of my clients like me to leave a daily log on what their furry friends did whilst they were away! Trying to come up with some witty prose (leaving out the English sarcasm as my American friends don’t get it!) is hard when people go away for 2/3 weeks! Yeah I leave notes too! Not that I get away too often.

  4. Truly love that photo of Boo and Marmalade sleeping together! Soooo very soft and sweet…sigh…
I worry way too much when I leave the farm and Kevin is in charge of my furbabies…I know he does a good job, that’s not it….it’s just that I give them the little extra that they all look forward to. I have all these special little things that I do for them, besides feed them and clean up! Although they all dine quite well! LOL It’s called a mother’s love! 🙂 Hugs, kisses, soft strokes and whispers in ears…
800 posts! Wow! That is amazing! Every single day for 800 days! And all interesting tales, full of life and wonder! I took some time and went back in time with you! Loved it all! 😀
Have a fantastic time with your son and family! Safe flight! Will miss you! Funny how I just fell in love with your posts in such a short time! That makes you a very special person!
    Always, Mere
    Muah! On the cheek!

  5. As for snorking? I have been told that I too snork upon occasion! Now I know that isn’t true!!! LOL I think that hubby wakes his own self up snorking and blames me!!! LOL

  6. Hey C. Enjoy your day in Pontiac and have a safe happy holiday with the whanau down south. I’m a little bit in love with your Boo – ever since he was a wee’n! What a dude! Love Maria xx

  7. Have a wonderful time in California, Celi. I’ll bet your son and daughter -law are looking forward to some great meals you plan on fixing. That doesn’t sound like much of a vacation to me, but I know you love feeding your kids so it will be a big kick for you–and obviously them.
I love the pictures as usual, but especially yesterday’s with Marmalade standing on Boo’s leg safe beneath the shelter of his great muzzle.

  8. leave the camera for the farm animals. they can update your blog whilst you are away.

    [safe travels. hurry home!]

  9. I just LOVE Ton Ton!!! He is so absolutely precious! And that’s a fact! The picture of him with the stick and the pigs is fabulous!!! xoxoxo So excited about the trip to see your family!!! I know they are ‘fired up’ about your visit! xo

  10. Celi, your mention of leaving notes reminds me of the first time mammy and daddy went away for a few days. There were notes everywhere. We gave them half an hour and collected the notes and put them in a drawer for the duration. An hour before they returned we put them all back, but in the wrong places!

I am looking forward to the guest posts and you have a wonderfully relaxed time, you deserve it!

  11. Congratulations on 800 posts..always a good read and after having spent my time reading a lot of those 800 I will not be at all surprised at what will be on the top of your telephone pole fence posts.
Have a safe journey..and see you soon

  12. Is that a tradition that folks put stuff on top of fence posts? That’s cool! I’m looking forward to the photos. I love how relaxed all the farm creatures look in today’s post. Hopefully they won’t develop some kind of drama while you are gone. You’re such a good peacemaker on your farm. I hope you have a safe trip. Congratulations on 800 posts! That is a well-established blog.
