Sometimes pigs do play with sticks.

They carry them about in their  mouths and have races. TonTon knows this  about pigs and sticks, so he is always ready.

Boo on the other hand is not invited in for games.camera-house2-015

Just as well too. He steals the sticks and runs off.

The men finished lowering the corn curtain on my third and fourth sides yesterday.

Many of my fence posts (that are recycled telegraph poles)  have strange things sitting on top of them. One day I must show you.

I have been very busy the last few days with getting the farm ready for Our John and the Lady down the Road to take over.  She can even see my house from her house now that the corn is down.

Things really are quite easy now.  I have opened three gates so that Mama and her flock and Queenie and Daisy can wander about at will and put themselves in and out of the barn should it rain.  Hairy has been led reluctantly into the rat house paddock, he sleeps down in the root cellar if the weather turns nasty and Sheila will  remain in her own field while I am away with her  barn sunporch door open.

TonTon will go to stay with The Matriarch  But Boo and The Big Dog will stay on the farm with their visitors.

The daily view with my city lens. Even Camera House gets to wear a different look when we visit the city. But I do not leave until tomorrow. So there is time yet.

For my little surprise while I am away I have asked a few of the rural commentors, who do not have blogs, to be guest bloggers.  So wee can get to know them better. It has been fun loading their pages and pictures for you.  You are in for a real treat.

I will pop in tomorrow morning though,  so you are right up to date before I leave. There will be plenty of people and dogs out here on the farm while I am gone, so if there is any news I will let you know.

Naturally, today I am going to take myself out to Route 66 to have my hair done at the hairdressers. Maybe Camera House will come as well, not to document the taming of my mop but the little town of Pontiac in Route 66  is very sweet.

Have a lovely day.

Love your friend,

celi

ps. I see that this is my 800th post. 800 pages about the farmy. Wow. I am pleased with that. And so grateful to have you all along for the ride.

  1. My Lola is a stick dog so you don’t want her around anyone with a cane! She was so upset one time that my husband was burning a brush pile full of ‘her’ sticks, that she grabbed a flaming one and ran off with it setting the woods on fire.

  2. It will be nice having you in California for a while. Right now it’s clear and sunny, a little crisp in the morning, but otherwise fine. I hope it stays that way for your visit.

  3. 800 posts from Celie are worth about 10,000 posts from anyone else. The Farmy posts are always packed with good things, pictures, stories. We’ll miss you, but we have the prospect of some interesting guest bloggers to look forward to instead.

    Have a great time,
    love,
    ViV x

  4. I can only imagine how difficult it must be to leave your farmy in another’s hands. There must be notes everywhere. I envision each of your animals with a note attached: “Hello. My name is Sheila. I need …”. 800 posts is quite a milestone, Celi. I wonder what you’ll teach us in the next 800? Have a good night.

  5. Celi: sincere good wishes on your 800th post! Methinks all of us owe you a big ‘thank you’! Hope you have a wonderfully exciting trip to Ca catching up with your grandchildren especially 🙂 ! Wish it could be a whole week!! Now Boo is currently ‘the bad boy’ outdoors and Ton the good and workaholic one: so why on earth is he sent to stay with The Matriarch 🙂 ?

  6. Congratulations on 800 posts! I hope you have a lovely trip and visit with family. I look forward to your substitute bloggers. Maybe they’ll start their own blogs when they find out how much fun it is. 🙂 Godspeed.
