The pneumonia is proving hard to break. He just stands in his new big cage and watches me, breathing and breathing out, hauling noisy air through his lungs. But as of yesterdays afternoon he was eating his seed mixed with yoghurt and drinking his potion, plus water. And as of this morning though I can still hear his breathing from the hall door, he is still stable.
He is in a big cage now and still on the floor of the heated bathroom. It is hard to tell if he is physically better but I think he is breathing marginally better. And he is brighter and fought me strongly when I took hold of his legs to bring him out of his cage for his injection, and held him under my arm. He is a strong bird. Then he weaved his head about like a snake charmers snake trying to freak John out. John had the needle. And he is eating and drinking. Eating and Drinking is very good in my book. But he drags each breath in with such a rasp and such determination. He is a dogged bird. I will only bring him out for his shot once more though (today) it is too traumatic for him. If he is beginning to recover I shall put his last two doses of antibiotics in his water. He must recover.
Mama: Mama is eating like there is no tomorrow. Putting weight back on as fast as she can. Can you work out who is who? From the left: Mama, Meadow, Tilly and Minty. Minty and Meadow may have gotton pregnant when Charlotte took the fences down that time and let Hairy MacLairy out. We will see. If it works out we call it line breeding. If not we call it in- breeding. Lets hope for the best. No signs of pregnancy yet. But some weight is being put on!
A rather unsettling picture of Daisy. But there you are. She is not always pretty.
Tui and Pania show no signs of stress in this cold.
It is possible that they are a little more robustly bred than The Duke of Kupa. Common stock probably!
Still piles of snow on the ground.
Sheila and TonTon don’t mind. Off they go their walk. Though Sheila’s heels are pink with cold.
You all have a lovely day.
your friend on the farmy,
celi
I have just read that one of our most precious blog friends has lost her daughter. She got on the train to school and then disappeared. If you are in Europe please pop over to her blog for a picture of the teenager. You may have seen her, you never know, if you have please get in touch with Rosemary. And it is possible that we can use the networksand social media we have set up to spread the search.

Duke must be improving if he ius eating… well that’s what I think…
I’m so glad that Kupa is fighting hard. He’s got you on his side and that is huge! And how terrible about the missing girl. Oy, vey, I’ll be praying.
I have visited Rosemary’s page and followed her instructions. How dreadful for her. I’ll keep my eyes peeled here in my part of England. As you say, one never knows.
Glad to hear he is doing better, I know Kupa still has a long way to go, but he will pull through.
If wishing and hoping HARD do any good, I wish and hope that Rosemary’s daughter is found soon, and that your beautiful, stubborn bird gets better soon. Lots of crossed fingers (I can cross them all at the same time).
I’m sending well wishes to Duke in getting better quickly. My poor Sheila. She needs some boots – snorts. XOXO – Bacon
Keep on taking care of Kupa just as you are. I have spoken to my friend On High Hd is watching and helping.
how awful about missing Jade. I have posted on Fb as requested. I shall pray for her tonight…
Your photos are stunning and fingers crossed for The Duke of Kupa. But like may others here, am praying that Jade is home safe with Rosemary and her family soon. So very, very awful.
Being a fighter is half the battle and then Kupa has you on his side. If any bird will pull through it will be him. And my heart breaks for Rosemary. Hopefully with all our networks being used she will be found.
I have liked and shared the post on Rosemary’s blog.
I’m still keeping everything crossed for Kupa. I hope everyone at the farmy stays well.
Love,
ViV
Well done Kupa and Mama 🙂
I think this is a good sign about the Duke. We’re all rooting for him. I saw the post on Roger’s blog this morning and posted to FB and a couple of my friends shared it. I can’t imagine the horrible fear this family must be experiencing. But we are spreading the word and spreading the prayers.
