These shots were taken in the night by the wildlife camera. It seems that there is a blow out in the center of the camera’s field, which is making it hard for us to see what is there. Whether this is because of the white building (though there is not much white left on that side) or the camera itself I don’t know. But there was definitely something there.
The header has been enhanced. This are the original shots.
Later this (I have enhanced this one too) .
I am fairly sure this is Scrapper. Cool shot actually. Thank you wildlife camera.
Sadly, although we have had no more break-ins, two more old chickens died today, not a mark on them, just laid down and died in the chook house in the daylight. They had been looking a bit puffy at breakfast. Poor old things. I have no idea what to make of that.
Good morning. Weirdly the remaining chickens are laying extremely well.
I hope you all have a lovely day.

We will be getting chickens in a couple of months. I am sorry for your troubles – as I say, we only have the mongoose here, but they are tough on chickens. These guys will be penned into a yard big enough to free range, but secure enough to protect them. We’ll take them out and watch them, as well. Tough going. Sorry, C.
Sure looks like a skunk to me!
Sorry to be so late getting to this… FD and I both say skunk, and we had friends over last night who indicated they’d had skunks kill their chickens in a manner somewhat like a weasel. They suck the blood out of them – this could be what happened to the two you have that just laid down and died.
We had a massacre of hens two nights ago. Many ravaged and died, and some injured and still recovering. We found raccoon prints all around the barn and in the barn. FD managed to shoot a raccoon the following night, but of course we found another roaming around last night. So far the area we patched on the barn has held… but until we manage to kill the raccoon we’ve seen since we won’t feel safe. I felt terrible burying the many hens we lost. We had not had this trouble in 8 years.
