Tiny Surprise

Cats and kittens are always welcome on the farmy. We do not have a rodent problem and this is why.kittens-010

Every year we welcome a few newcomers. These two little boys have been beautifully brought up and are very tame and accepting of  dogs. They are in an enormous cage for a few days until they get used to the barn animals and then they will go up into the loft with the peacocks, once they work out how to get down they are usually acclimatised.  Scrapper has been gone walkabout for a few weeks now but I am sure Egoli and LuLu and Marmalade will have something to say about these little surprises.

No names yet though. Any ideas?kittens-020

Daisy is still brightening up but milking almost nothing out of her swollen quarter now. I will speak to the vet ‘again’ today.

Also today, if the weather holds, we will start fencing the new pastures across the way at the Big Barn. Plus I will be picking up a new student helper from the train station she is from Korea and wants to come and stay a few weeks.  She wants to learn about American food. Growing and cooking.  So that should be fun.

You know, I got up this morning at the usual time and it was  dark! How did that happen. Plus it is pouring with rain which is nice.

I hope you all have a lovely day.

Your friend on the farmy,

miss c

  1. Dark here too – and it has rained almost solid since Friday night! Going to be a job and a half to mow my grass once it dries out!
Glad you are getting people wanting to come learn from you, you are a great teacher.
Sam is home and recovering – lots of staples in his tummy from his surgery so trying to keep him calm.
    Have a wonderful day Celi.

      • Hope you are keeping calm too Lynda. i am glad he is on his new road to recovery..

and Laura i hope youu are feeling better too, though as we all know it takes a long while to get over losing your best dog..but that is ok too.. c

      • Thank you Laura – taking one day at a time.
Hope you are recovering too – and remembering all the good and less of the bad!

  2. Precious little kitties. I do hope they settle quickly C. Oh no, you mornings are getting dark already! We really have had a wonderful winter so I wish the same for you when it arrives.
    Have a happy day.
    🙂 Mandy xo

  3. Morning Celi, from the dark damp Blue Ridge Mtns. We once had a pair of little boy kittens looking much like your two arrive in our backyard . They were The Stripedy Brothers. One was Stripedy & one was Brother. Sweet darlings. I hope Scrapper comes waltzing back to his post soon & I am hoping especially for dear Daisy to heal and be well again. Rainy Day good projects for you. Judith

  4. Morning Celi. It’s windy and blowing here like crazy…the after effects of Bertha. The first name which came to me…in fact, the only name…for the little white and striped faced boy, is Mekon. Because he looks like a Mekon! (Dan Dare, Pilot of the future comic) But I’m sure he’s the sweetest Mekon in the world. You lucky girl to have two new little creatures for us all to love. Good luck with the vet today and with the whole situation. I’ll be thinking of you and Daisy. 😀

  5. Yupe, kittens seem to be a trend. We acquired a couple of new assassins, Nutmeg and Olive. We got them from the miller where we get our flour. It’s been a bad year for mice coming in this year. Just hatching some chicks as well, that’s lots of fun.

  6. Ed and Stanley…. cute little fellas! Dark in Texas too. No rain though, hope it comes down this way. Have a wonderful day, C!

  7. Can’t have enough kittens! of the farmy! Just love them! And another helper! That sounds wonderful! I bet it will be a learning experience for both of you! Korean food is delicious!!! xo

    • Yes, I like these too and easy for the little ones to learn……..although I was reading last night about animal names and “they” say two syllable names are best, and cats respond to names with ssss sounds in them, they learn their name much quicker.

  8. I am green with envy. Jock has embargoed us having a cat again. The little white-faced one is the image of our (late) Minouchka (or Minouchki) Could he or she inherit the name? The other one looks like George to me.
Is that the first time a baby animal has hurt Boo?

You are doing well for helpers this year. I hope the new one is a success.
    Love
    ViVx
